Ramfins59 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Since I can't spray any primer or paint on my current project due to the crappy, rainy weather here, I've been rooting around in my stashes, parts bins and kits... One of the things that I've wanted to eventually do is sort of a Car Show Diorama. I've had a couple of Trophy Parts Packs for a long time so I pulled them out and sort of detailed some of them with different clear paints and wood colors. This is what I wound up with... Then i was digging through a T-Bucket/Tall T double kit that I have in my stash (I eventually want to make a T-Bucket Hot Rod) and I pulled out the Beer Keg Gas Tank. I glued it together and painted it aluminum. I don't know whether to leave it as is, or to sand the woodgrain smooth and repaint it aluminum, or, to repaint the woodgrain a wood color, and then foil the rings around the keg. Whaddya think...??? Then... i was rooting through a 1928 Lincoln "Gangster" kit and found 2 tiny liitle hand grenades. I drilled holes in the bottom of them, CA glued them to straight pins, painted them.... and then went a little crazy and cut 2 key rings from a PE set and glued them to the grenades....!!! I think that they'll make interesting shifters in a T-Bucket don't you...??? Geeze, I hope it stops raining soon so I can get back to modeling.... LOL...
bryan_m Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 oh man! those grenades are awesome! the beer keg, i would paint it woodgrain, and then foil the bands...... cheers bryan
kruleworld Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 2nd vote to woodgrain the beer keg. nice grenades. would be good for a diorama
Del Austin Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Very cool bits. Been gathering odds n ends myself for a Diorama that I will probably never get around to building.
Ramfins59 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Thanks for the encouraging words guys. Looks like I'll be repainting the keg in wood color...
vwrabbit Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I third the woodgrain and chrome bands. Love the grenades! Did you make it to the show this past weekend in Castle Shannon? Tim
Ramfins59 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Yes I did Tim and it was a very good show. Lots of vendors, even though I only bought a couple of distributors from M.A.D.
crazyjim Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Wood & BMF on the keg. The grenades would make great shifters.
Ramfins59 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Thanks Jim. That's the way I'll be going with the keg...
