cobraman Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 Well, I guess I will have to wear the "slacker" hat. Try as I did I could not get the lettering to look good. I still think it is due to the curve of the side wall. I canonly get the top portion of the lettering to come out nice. I tried to seach for some Goodyear decals the right size but all I can find is smaller than I need. I will have to live with the black walls.
cobraman Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks Bryan. I'm stalled till I can go get the paint for the body.
cobraman Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 I went and got some paint today. I needed more primer ( Duplicolor filler primer ) so I went to Pep Boys. I found a yellow that looked like it would match my Vette replica so I got that also. Now besides the primer I never used the Duplicolor line of paints. I like the cost over the model paint. While the cost is close to the same with the model paint you get .3 oz and with the Duplicolor I got ( perfect match ) you get a full 8 oz. Does anyone who uses the Duplicolor have any tips for using this paint ?
cobraman Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 Got the Vette painted. Next will be some wet sanding and then time for some clear and a polish.
mopar_guy1 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 (edited) Looks a lot like the Spoiler Vette MPC kit. Edited October 17, 2012 by mopar_guy1
bryan_m Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 lookin good ray! yellow is a tough color to paint, everything has to be perfect for yellow, its worse than black! you got her lookin good tho........keep it goin! cheers bryan
Chas SCR Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I think your doing a real good job on this. It takes time is all, Keep up the good work and just think the next one will be better and better. This does not happen over night!
kruleworld Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 This was the kit that convinced me to stick to 1/25 scale. these oddball scales are just annoying. Be interesting to see how it comes out. if my memory is correct, it's identical to the 1/24 corvette, only bigger (no more detail)
Monty Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Looks a lot like the Spoiler Vette MPC kit. It shares a couple things in common with the Spoiler 'Vette, as both are molded in yellow & represent '80-'82 Corvettes, but Ray's is a 1/20 scale kit by Monogram.
Monty Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Got the Vette painted. Next will be some wet sanding and then time for some clear and a polish. Looks like ya figured out which way to point the nozzle, so that's a plus. Actually, from what I can see, your paint turned out pretty nice.
cobraman Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 You would think with a larger kit they would put more detail in it but this is not the case. This kit is several years however and hopefully will build up nice. I just wish I could have pulled off the outline white letters on the tires. I tried several times but just could not get the entire lettering to print no matter how I tried. Body has been cleared and is looking pretty good IMO.
cobraman Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 Vette is done such as it is. More photos in "Under Glass" if interested.
