MachinistMark Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Well heres my kick at the oldsmobile can, 6" scale drop in the front, unsure hopw many in the rear, but its a signifigant drop. paint is rustoleum gloss black on the wheels/chassis and Mazda Redfire pearl effect for the body. Scratch built coil springs (1/16 inch tig rod wound around a 1/8th tungsten fits like a GLOVE in the kit spring pockets FYI..) hood has been relieve of its tim as well. pics the springs Edited October 17, 2012 by MachinistMark
MachinistMark Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 thanks nick, me too. those pics dont come anywhere close to doing the colour justice,
Nick Winter Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Really suits that body style, I was thinking a Dark Cherry red for one of mine, the other with probably be weathered. Nick
Gluhead Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Looks good. Pretty sure my second build of this one will be red as well. Depends on if I do the strip car or the hardtop conversion next. Sheesh...too many ways I want to do this kit.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Oh yeah, it's looking good. Looking forward to more.
MachinistMark Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) Thanks doc.... where's your olds? Lol Hope to have the interior started and the wheels on the frame for good tonight. These pics do not do the colour justice at all. Here's the paint in the can, a much better indication of the amount of pearl in it Edited October 16, 2012 by MachinistMark
MachinistMark Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Now the question is trim rings and hub caps or my machined aluminum moon discs?
Dr. Cranky Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I've got to clean up the parts on the two that I am hoping to build. One shiny and one rusty. Love that paint color and yes I can see the bling in it.
MachinistMark Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Yeah. Pretty awesome red. Gonna make a set of caps for it this Saturday.
Nick Winter Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 That Looks great, gotta love Urethane Clear. Nick
MachinistMark Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 I told ya those pre clear pics didn't do the colour any justice. yes urethane clear is pretty awesome but once you mix a batch ya better use it all or be prepared to pour it out.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Great color, great gloss and great stance. Looking forward to seeing this all the way. (And thanks for the tip on the springs !!)
