I was on the Testors website the other week looking over the FAQ surfing for valuable information. I came across this information packet that Testors offered to Customers so I requested this packet, receiving it and looking it over. While surfing through the information I couldnt find the answer to my main question.

What really is the difference between the Testors Enamel paint in the 1/4 oz bottle VS the Model Master Enamel paint in the 1/2 oz bottle ? The only thing I can make out of it all to this point is the cost of the bottle ? This possibly coulda been discussed through the past years or so on here but I was not able to find the post while surfing back through the previous pages of posts. Really curious to find the answer to this as I would like to purchase some additional paint again this week. Thanks in advance.

There is no difference from Model Master- Testors enamel paint, just bigger bottle and different color offerings

Edit- I could be wrong though, I guess it depends in which way you plan on applying them, I have not noticed a difference between the two when using a brush

Again, just my opinion, I am not an expert ;)

IIRC, the MM stuff was supposed to be an upgrade over the regular line by offering a wider range of colors with better, more finely ground pigments. For the most part, I've been very happy with the paints I've purchased. It's just too bad Testors will never get away from those worthless nozzles on their rattle cans. Oh well, that's why I have an airbrush.

The Model Master line was an upgrade , offering a wider variety of color . The 1/4 oz bottles were the first line offered , at one time they were a pricey 10 cents per bottle .

The only difference between the two when using an airbrush is that the 1/4 oz bottle's paint is a wee bit thicker . I usually cut this with a 50/50 ratio of paint to cheap laquer thinner . Colors are vibrant and lay down just as nice as their Model Master counterpart .

Is that the only difference ?, just colors?

Pretty much !

The original line from what I recall ( 5 yrs old ) and onward , contained the basic standard colors . Exception being , Jade Green , Ruby Red , Burgundy , Lime Gold , and Sapphire Blue , which were all metallics .

I had a 10+ year old 1/4 bottle of grey primer and figured I would get rid of itt...I reduced it with lacquer thinner and was able to prime 3 cars with it. Really nice stuff to boot.
