crazyrichard Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Thats deff one krazy truck man. I like it. thnx hard to take good pics of the black in the evening but i managed to get some resonable ones cab and chassis got a satin black coat .. not done yet more to come some parts in chrome bit hmmmzz theme (bit overdone maybe?) but i always liked the grey / red / white wall combination and never did it on a model , so this was the perfect one to do it i also bought this kit , its from 1977 and in mint condition and all sealed weird thing is it says 1/25 but it all looks so small ?? anybody knows about this ?? Edited December 6, 2012 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 yea I just posted about that in the obscure kits thread.. yea watch out for the painful small parts that brake easy on the suspension.. yea even as a little kid I remember that thing. I always thought ( as did my grand father ) it was more like 1:27 scale. I still have sealed the LIL John's delivery ( only thing diff was it had a 5 window sedan body with optional panel covers for the back side windows ) I build-ed both when I was young with granddad. and later the kit I have now is a ebay buy. aah cool thnx !! well not afraid for the small parts , i even dont know if i will build it straight out of the box , i may do some alterations
blubaja Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I love this project!! And I have one of those T Touring kits, but its blue on the boxart. Cool kit.
crazyrichard Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) thnx , and is yours molded in blue plastic then ? mine is all yellow molded just dryfitted everything and now it kind of all comes togheter , will get a ton of detail like chrome mirrir , doorhandles , hoodlatches , wood at the back , chrome fuel tank ... a trailer its started like this > just got a delevery 10 minutes ago >> while i was writing this post lol Edited December 7, 2012 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 hand painted the grille , hood latches , door hinges and inside of the headlights chrome
Randy D Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Hi Richard, Really like how this is turning out!! Those wheels look great with the paint job! Randy
crazyrichard Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) placed the haedlight lenses today and got this safari window idea flattened the sides of the glass and made that black see through grille dryfit all losse and not leveled also tried a white wall ring in the rear , loved it so its white walls all around with the salt racer , thats not finished needs openings in the side of the hood with headers sticking out dont mind the roundness of the front tyres i made them smaller roughly and need to sand them round again Edited December 8, 2012 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 made a small push bar out of a vw beetje bumper , needs a layer of chrome then started with wood at the back of the cab i want to make a braket there so the spare wheel can hang there layer of black , i can easely sand it so it becomes more like weathered wood
charlie8575 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Now this is cool. Very interesting concept, and very nicely done. Charlie Larkin
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 thnx guys and yes i kind of changed the idea into making a trailer / gooseneck fo it later on so i can put 2 cars on that.. also i will ad a bar to the racer and extend the push bar so the truck can pushstart the racer this is just one of those no plans builds and i just build and see where i end up
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 extended the pushbar , the idea is to build the trailer and when it is on the saltflats the truck itself can act as a pushstarter.. made the bar out of a vw beetle piece and a piece of a citroen 2cv bumper (lol) sanded the wood , this will get some semi clear on it later so it comes more to life pushstart idea , now i can make a bar on the rear of the racer very rough start of more woodwork and the toolbox with lock will sit under there , one on eitch side something like this only against the runing boards painted the wooden floor black , waighting untill its dry and i can sand that as well pushbar painted chrome the floor spare wheel in base chrome
zaina Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Loving this one very much. You have given me some great ideas. I believe the piece on top where a trailer would mount is called a fifth wheel plate. Can't wait to see it finished
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 thnx and well we call that thing a schotel so i really didnt know how to call it , thnx
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 sanded the wood after the black paint *acrylic* then added some layers of clear to bring the wood to life due to the dark evening pics with artificial light it looks way more dark and red as irl tomorrow i wil sand it a tad with superfine paper so the gloss is a tad less and i will make some better pics when there is still daylight
crazyrichard Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 update > on one side there will be 2 toolboxes with locks , those are drying now , just painted them on the other side i have build a fueltank , from a old fueltank top with scrathed bottom and a step from the partsbox .. need to be painted just a dryfit its loose under there to weather the spare wheel especially on this pic you see its more massive and wide and filled now and a good shot of the woodwork , wich i sanded again after clear to tone down the gloss and redness due to the clear the pics dont do it justice due to the dark evening shots irl its nicer imo i hope to make some sharper daylight pics soon
JasonFL Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I just love the way that hauler is coming together. You put so many cool little details into your builds, can't wait to see it all done with the trailer and cars on the back.
crazyrichard Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 thnx , still looking for a really cheap donor trailer .. made some better pics , the toolboxes with locks on the other side , all loose under there so the position will be different this is loose on the table and needs to come under teh wood floor bnut taken to show the third slightly different tool box , i could make that under the 2 boxes or use it somewhere else painted gastank , i wanted to paint the step on the side of it chrome after this black coat , now i'm thinking of keeping it just black , the way the light hits it is just great a brome , need a brown stem en the hairs in like beige ..
dimebolt Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 This project is coming along really nicely Richard. Looks great. Corey
crazyrichard Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 thnx everything is glued in place painted the toolbox hinges and locks chrome , BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH that was some tiny stuff actually very easy to paint with a wooden sate pin ,just sanded the point smooth and sprayed some chrome in a bowl ...works every time close up started paint on the broom , needs more still
kilrathy10 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome work!!!!!!!
crazyrichard Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome work!!!!!!! haha thnx man !!!! for years i have been doing automotive renderings and maybe some know about autemo , i'm an artist there .. but since a year or half a year i have not done anything .. the modelcar hobby is just more statisfying , something you can really hold and rotate irl and hands on beats virtual stuff anytime .. but when i looked at one of the last posted pics i got an idea , the shot was taken on a blanc painters canvas and using fotoshop i (done quick) made the visible part of my living room white also , removed the green light fall and added just a simple filter this filter erases noise in the pic , sharpens details and at the same time makes it kind of more blurred and soft almost to the painted look so i didnt alter anything on my model just a all white backdrop and a filter .. if i would make real good shots especially to do this stuff the results could be way better , this was just done in 5 minutes because i got the idea
vintagedragfan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 that is some very nice work Richard! looks awesome man!
