Johan020 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Wow i love it already , great looking wheels
Trans Am Erik Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 You have my attention, I'll be watching this build.
slammedi'am Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Hopefully I will pick up some goodies for it this week so I can get started on it...Trying to get a few others out of the way
Johnny1973 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Same here,I will be watching this builted too.
Patrick2005 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Wasn't the Smokey and the Bandit car a 77? Don't get me wrong I love how this car looks I'm just asking.
brodie_83 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 '77-78 is the exact same car, which I believe the kit he's using is the AMT '78 Trans Am.
wabatuckeun Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Bandits car was a 77 Blackbirf Special with a lot of speed goodies! Stace
Patrick2005 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 maybe its because it doesn't have the nose on but it looked a lil older to me. Though my vision kinda sucks too....
roadhawg Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I'll be watching this, awesome project! And guys, to clear up any confusion, both the Year One T/A and the original SAB T/A were '77s, but the only visual difference is the grill....'77 had a honeycomb pattern, '78 had an "X" pattern. This is the Year One T/A............ And this is the "original" (clone) SAB T/A....... And yes, this one is being built correctly using the Revell kit which has Fisher T-Tops....the original (and the MPC/AMT kit) had Hurst T-tops. Can't wait to see more!
cherokeered Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Nice build idea....I will be following this one. Do you have the link for the wheels? I need a set of those!!!!
roadhawg Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Do you have the link for the wheels? I need a set of those!!!! I meant to ask that same question! Lol.
slammedi'am Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Here is a link to the wheels from Ebay....They were pretty clean wheels when I got them too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-Pro-Touring-20-Pontiac-Snowflake-Wheels-/321019623959?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item4abe42ba17 Ill get some pics up of what Ive got done so far....Got some goodies in ATL for it today
slammedi'am Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Got the grilles cut out on the bumper and in the headlights.Dont like the fog lights in the bumper on the real one so that will prob be the only thing I dont do exact....Started on the wheels some too....Hopefully this car will be done before the show in January in Chatt
slammedi'am Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 And here are some pics of it that I have found so far
cherokeered Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks for the link for the wheels. What tires did you use to fit those wheels?
Tonioseven Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Casey (one of the mods here) did a heck of a job with those wheels! I have a set destined for an early T/A project. Good luck with this one!!! For tires, the recommended tires are the optional wheels in the Revell kits such as the Chevelle wagon and the like. Edited November 11, 2012 by Tonioseven
slammedi'am Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 It says you can use any from the California wheels kit that have the larger wheels in them...
Scalper Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Wow the wheels are wicked . this is going to be great.!
relaxednoma Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 awesome build, thank you for the link for the wheels as well. My father in law, who passed in 06 had a 78, that he loved dearly and alas, like most that age bracket, sold it when his wife (my mother in law) got preggo with their son. After they had their daughter for child #2 (who is my wife) he wanted to search for one, but went the drag racing route instead. I'm embarking on a similar build as a tribute to him, with the goal to present it to my wife for xmas (yikes!)
