Heres one I'm thinking about... I just haven't convinced myself the bed works with the truck. The two styles seem to be at odds with each other. I like the fins and the way the cab/hood beltline can continue thru the fins.

The resin cab and hood is a swap meet find, not really sure who cast it. I've spent the last day or so getting the 59 impala tail cut to fit. If this project does continue it'll be fenderless and have a very interesting choice of engine, along with industrial grade tires.

It is kinda Buck Rogers looking... I need to mock it up with some tires to see if that changes the look.

Steve,I believe that is a Jimmy Flintstone chopped '41 Chevy cab and hood and grill. It look's a lot like the one I have still in the box.Interesting project you got going on there,go for it,dare to be different.By the way,how was the flash in the resin body, mine is really bad and I may just put it up for trade.I was just thinking, how about the rear of a '59 El Camino, maybe shorten the bed.

George, The flash on mine is just about what I expect on a resin. Kinda heavy on the firewall but nothing that can't be cleaned up.

I'll probably go ahead with this project as you see it here. Its just wierd enough to work as a custom!

That looks cool, Steve. Fenders or highboy?

Highboy!

The donor kits will be a Johan Mercedes SSK and a modified dirt racer... There's odd stuff in both! :D

Needs skirted tires and in the weeds!! Maybe Cord front fenders? the open wheels would detract from the coolness. Paul

Hey Steve, I would like to see you do it. Ya know.....It really reminds me of a Wasp. The noise has the eye features and the rear really has a winged effect. Have you thought of a Mud racer or Monster Truck ? Just a thought. I'm sure it will look very cool what ever you have in mind. Good start !

If you are going ahead with the highboy idea, I would suggest putting the front axle way out front (still behind the grill, but forward). The tires coming past the grill should look cool, and leave plenty of room to fill in the sides of the hood, or leave a drastically exposed engine, which would also look cool.

I've been contemplating this for awhile, and I think I would do something with the impala rear part:

1) possibly straighten the lower part to match the body

2) build a body line to continue that on the bottom of the cab, and then taper it off towards the rear of the impala fender

3) continue the impala bullet on the truck cab

Those are just my suggestions, if you don't like them, that's fine. It should be really interesting no matter what you do.
