This is my ESCI Phillipine Taxi WIP. I am doing some major modifications so you may not recognize the kit.

Like this a lot, and love the real Toyo 4WDs. When you said "Phillipine Taxi" I was thinking one of those crazy things with dingle balls and crazy paint. This is WAY cooler.

You are right, that is what the kit is supposed to look like. Here is a pic of the box

Is this an original ESCI kit, or an ERTL or Italeri repop, or what? Very interesting.

I think you took it in a much better direction than the box art version. Nice work.

It is an original. Their is also a couple safari kits and a soft top version. The only repop kit that I know of is the Italeri FJ Armed Pickup kit. That kit does not have a top at all ,but instead, a machine gun.
