Rob Hall Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Went to a swap meet today and bought 3 built up (pretty well done) Tamiya 1:20th F1 cars--Gilles Venellueve Ferrari, Nigel Mansell Ferrari, and the Senna Camel Lotus. I have a few unbuilt 1:20th Tamiyas, slowly getting into F1 modeling, though I've followed the sport for 30+ years.

I was there before they opened To bad we couldn't have said hi or did we?
JamesW Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Dang Brian. How much did you pull that Harley F-150 for?
Railfreak78 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Hey James, I got it for a screaming deal for all really. The Harley combo I bought from a guy in my club, He gave it to me for $25.The boxed drags, 2 of the Days cars, were $10, The whole lot of Junkyard cars was $10, The 63 Ford was a kit exchange. The Nascar truck was actually $6 and the rest of the boxed kits were $5. The bagged stuff varies from full kits and some just parts which ranged from 1.50 a bag to $5 for the Dodge Lil Red Express. All the Harry Gant stuff including 2 autographs was $20 and $5 for all the Cards including a full sealed pack of the whole 91 set and $5 bucks for the orange Impala that was actually done really nice. I'll fix it and put it under glass. Wheelin and dealin! The junk yard were kid kits so I have my work cut out getting the thick paint and over glue off of them but that many for ten was worth the parts!
Railfreak78 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 What a score on paint wheelman!! i think that is the most over looked part of our hobby is what we pay after the kits price tag. Paint, glue, details, etc. Paint is always good to find that cheap
Junkman Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I visited a friend in Germany, who only collects 1/24-25. These were in this stack, so I had to lift them off him:
Nick Winter Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 My local Meijer Store (.75 Miles from home) Has discounted all the spray paint in the Automotive Department. I picked Up the 12 oz. cans for $1.49 Ea. & the 6 oz. Cans for $1.24 Ea. Next week will be the final markdown, where anything that is left will be $.10 / can. Yeah, a dime. Last time I stocked up, my receipt said something like "Items Purchased: 42. you saved $411.42!" Dang that can of burgandy I bought for $9 is the exact same as the one in the back.

I've seen the Street Heat one, but I want the Brookfield ones, better detail and easier to customize.
Railfreak78 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 The one on Greenway at the Postal Hall? I was in there at about 10am... That was right around the time I was getting ready to head out. If you saw a short, skinny dude in all black with a biker shirt and a leather vest on and way more stuff than one should carry that was me Are you going to the Desert Scale Classic? Its at the same place in April and will actually have a contest and prizes. I think I saw those cars you bought. I believe they were on the back wall about the middle and pretty big. If so they were nice.
charlie8575 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I remember the Concorde and Intrepid. I didn't know they made an LHS, too. I'll keep an eye open for those. I always liked the first-generation LH cars, especially the LHS. At MassCar's show, I grabbed a Life-Like repop of the Pyro 1908 Lanchester 20 and a set of wheels and tires for my Revell Monte Carlo.
