highway Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 WOW, James, nice haul. I'm a little envious, though! The Petty car is the only one of that set I don't have!!!
LVZ2881 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 WOW, James, nice haul. I'm a little envious, though! The Petty car is the only one of that set I don't have!!! I probably have 20 of the Petty Grand Prix Legends kits, of course they'll all be used as donors for other builds as the Petty Legends boxing are the only Grand Prix's of that body style to be molded in white. All the others are either the Petty blue kit or the yellow from the Earnhardt wrangler combo set. I'm currently using one to build Buddy Baker's 1982 Ranier Grand Prix. I usually find them on ebay for between $15-$20...
PatRedmond Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Revell Corvette C6-R and AMT Fairlane 427 in a trade with Khart. Oh yeah...... and probably a new nick-name.
Jon Cole Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 What may be the first model kit I purchased this year... Also stocked up on K&S "music wire" .015 and .025, Two diff viscosities of Mercury super glue, and several bottles Tamiya paint, plus one MM Acrylic.

tuffone20 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I got this stuff at the DSC!! The "Too Much, '70 Dodge Challenger, Air brush & K&S engineering tubing bender" I got in the raffle and this year I only brought 6 of them and they were 6 for $5 so I think I did pretty good there!!!! And the Duster was given to me by a club member that had me watch his swap meet stuff. I picked up the Lil Red Truck because it come with a good set of Warlock decals And I picked up the '55 Chevy because it had a Racer's Wedge with it! oh and the '70 Ford Police also came with another decal sheet!! And they other stuff I just wanted!!
Railfreak78 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I got this stuff from the DSC6 minus the 57 Chevy. That I got in trade from Carl P (Modeler). Anyone know what release the pink one is with opening doors and hood and trunk?

I guess I have too many unbuilts..
Matt LeBlanc Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I got all of this at the Houston contest yesterday. The vintage kits were all built. They will be easy to redo. The rest are sealed.
Junkman Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 A true barn find! At least in my imagination, in reality it's an attic find. Yesterday I was invited to a 50th b'day party. For some odd reason, the conversation drifted to car modelling at some stage, i.e. the wife mentioned the old boxes with unfinished modelling projects in the attic. Long story short, I went home with them. gosh, do I love b'day parties. You always get nice gifts, isnay? All of them are started to a bad standard, but imo very salvageable. The haul in my dungeon, less cobwebs and dust: A Bandai C-cab which begs to be rodded: Everything painted is brush painted Humbrol. So no problem soaking the paint off the parts: A very politically incorrect Gakken/Entex A-Bone: Gives the term 'they don't make them like they used to' quite a new twist, dunnitt? What is painted is brushed on Humbrol. No body parts are painted: Then we got this beauty: Imagine my surprise, when I found out that there are TWO in the box: The model can be built two ways, both of which have been attempted. The brown one is the version without sidemounts and the spare wheels on the back. It has never been completed, but the body is sprayed with what looks like automotive paint without primer underneath. This will be tough to remove. The yellow one was ready built, and it is the "Maharaja" version, i.e it has sidemounts and the uninterrupted fin on the bootlid. It was crudely brush painted brown and I had this one disassembled and soaked this afternoon! Unfortunately, it has terminal front axle damage. A build of this model was in the cards for me anyway, hence my question for the correct engine colour elsewhere on this forum. This find enables me to leave my mint boxed original Gakken mint boxed! This is the pearl of the haul: Again, the box contains two examples: I might build one oob and the other one into an art carved hearse?
Junkman Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) And last but not least: It is the most unstarted of the lot, but the wheels are already spoked in: I cannot tell you how happy I am with this find. Especially when I consider the cost involved. Not only were they completely free of charge, no, I got so many free liquid refreshments with them, that the state of visible intoxication had been reached! Edited April 26, 2010 by Junkman
PatRedmond Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 You did very well, Christian. VERY well indeed.
LVZ2881 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 From the Detroit Area show today....... Pat, I see you finally got your Alfa GTA!! Maybe one day I can get one for myself!!

Especially when I consider the cost involved. Not only were they completely free of charge, no, I got so many free liquid refreshments with them, that the state of visible intoxication had been reached! That kit brings back some nightmares for me!!! When I was a kid back in Pontiac, MI the hobby shop I always went to buy models at, ask if I would build that kit for a customer that wanted but did not want to build it. I got paid something like $40 dollars to build it and I was doing good with it until I got to doing the wheels!! I think I was like 13 or 14 years old and for the life of me I could not do them!! My mom & dad and even my older brother tried and couldn't get them done!! I ended up taking it back with everything but the wheels done on it and I remember feeling real bad about not getting it done, but the guy was happy and paid me anyways.. So looks like the hardest part is done for you........... LOL Maybe some day I'll try and find one of those and give it a try again.
