Ramfins59 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Jim this just keeps getting better all the time... Keep up the great work.
Hollywood Jim Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 OK, since I’m doing a circus parade down main street I’ll need a circus wagon. So I searched for some ideas. I needed to make a flat bed circus wagon for the cannon. I have this kit that has missing parts so I used the tender coal car. I added some toy wheels and some wood filigree from Christmas decorations and came up with this. . . . . . .
GTMust Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 From such a simple concept at the beginning, this is going to be one heck of a dio! I'm just lovin' it!Tony
Danno Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 From such a simple concept at the beginning, this is going to be one heck of a dio! I'm just lovin' it! Tony With all due respect, with Jim's imagination there's no such thing as 'simple.'
GTMust Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I agree 100%... but I think you may have misinterpreted what I meant. What started as a single cannon and a homie.... is turning into one of Jim's great works of art.Definitely no disrespect intended!Tony
Hollywood Jim Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 Since I will be shooting Choco out of a cannon I’ll need something to catch Choco. Maybe a net? No, a net would be too big to carry down the street in the parade. I need something different. So here is the story line I came up with. Pete Choco left his home and joined the circus. When the human cannonball got hurt, they got Joe to fill in. But Joe kept missing the target, until they found a target he never missed; an easy chair with a beer and a TV remote. When the circus came back to the hood, all of Pete’s Homie friends came out to see him. . . . .
John Teresi Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Jim.......just found this thread.........simply AMAZING.........your imagination and skills are the best........VERY VERY cool........can`t wait to see it at next years GSL.
Mooneyzs Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Jim... This is just awesome man. I really like where this Diorama is heading. Awesome work. I see you are from Arizona, Hopefully I will get to see you at the Desert Scale Classic in April
Hollywood Jim Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 Thank you guys ! Yeah Chris look me up !! No work done today. ( I'm feeling crappy because of the school shooting. ) . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Jim, great work (and eye candy) as usual. The best part of following one of your diorama builds is getting exposed to that cross section of your brain that I call THE HOLLYWOOD TIME ZONE. Looking forward to more. Cheers, DC
Hollywood Jim Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 It’s hard to believe, but this project is finished. Having decided to simplify the design made it a much easier build. I think I accomplished the challenge, which was to use Choco the Homie in a diorama. I don’t consider this a serious diorama, it's purely fun and games. Here is how it will be laid out for display. The figures will be facing away from the viewer as they watch their homie friend being shot out of a cannon. I think the cannon shot helps explain why his pants are falling down. ( NOTE: After looking at my pictures, I think my final layout will have a little less smoke from the cannon) These buckets are for the fire truck. THANK YOU FOR HANGING WITH ME ON THIS ONE.............. . . . . . . . .
Danno Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 As usual ... perfect! By the way, Happy Birthday Jim! {Glad you're staying ahead of me.}
Dr. Cranky Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Very cool. I think it is going to be enjoyed quite well, and I think it will help capture the attention of youngsters at shows. Thanks for sharing the eye candy with us, Hollywood. Okay, what's next?
