bogger44 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 From the Monogram Snake/Mongoose combo. This is the first flopper I built. Done just for fun without worrying about the inaccuracies of the kit and chalking it up as experience for future builds. Other than the plug wires and drilled out header ends, it's purely oob. Paint is Krylon Sun Yellow. Thanks for looking.....
Dragline Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Always a great kit built up. No matter how nice [in this case], or how bad they are built I always get a smile forming in my mind. I was a lad when these came out so fond memories are attached. Cool Bob
caine440 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Nice job! This one always reminds me of my youth. Dad built both the Snake and Mongoose for me.
W-409 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 That's nicely done Cuda Funny Car! Nice paint and detailing on it, very cleanly built too. I mean that parts fit nicely to each other and that kind of basic stuff, which sometimes causes trouble to me.
Terry Sumner Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 How did you like the Krylon Yellow paint? Did you decant it into an airbush bottle?
bogger44 Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 Thanks for the comments guys. How did you like the Krylon Yellow paint? Did you decant it into an airbush bottle? It was shot straight out of the can. My luck with Krylon paint has been a hit and miss affair. The yellow did lay down nice, but it is fairly thin and took a number of coats (5 or 6 I believe) for good coverage. On the other hand, I've tried their burgundy in the past and found it to be super thin, even after around ten light to moderate coats, it would pull away from edges and high points.
Green Duster Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Great job! I did the set also. Even got Prudhomme to sign mine at a show! Great job! I did the set also. Even got Prudhomme to sign mine at a show!
Mister Twister Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 A great looking build and nice pics also.
bogger44 Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 Thanks guys! Great job! I did the set also. Even got Prudhomme to sign mine at a show! Great job! I did the set also. Even got Prudhomme to sign mine at a show! Nice job on your Cuda, Brian. Wish mine was signed by the man! I see you're from Rhinelander. I've got some cousins not too far east of you, near Wabeno. Got a good family friend who runs a sign painting business up in Crandon, too.
gerdog Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Good lookin' build! The 'Cuda was one of -if not- the nicest body styles of the era in my opinion.
SteelyEd Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Very Nice! What kit is this (Box Art Please) Did the wrincle slicks come with the kit?
bogger44 Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 Thanks guys. The 'Cuda is one of my favorites from the era too. Very Nice! What kit is this (Box Art Please) Did the wrincle slicks come with the kit? Ed, the slicks did come with this kit, though they are M+H Racemasters, when they should be Goodyears. Mine is from the most recent re-issue in the late 90's.
Mooneyzs Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Very nice build up of this car. I love those wrinkle walls on rears. Again Beautiful work
Silver Foxx Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 A nice looking clean build - great work on this.
