Panasport Wheels

Recommended Posts

I am looking for Panasport wheels for the Cosworth Vega I have been planning for awhile.

Hiroboy had them but now they don't - anyone know where I can find 'em?

Thanks!

Curt Baker

You could use the Minilites from the MPC 71-73 Mustang kit and remove the 5 lugs and replace with Grandt Line

bolts for the 4 lug pattern and it would be close or from the wheels from an old Tamiya Mini Cooper.

Thanks! I think the panasports are a closer match ... if I can find 'em. Thanks very much! If I had the minilites I'd try those but don't have those kits to bash. panabolt1s.jpg

The minilite from the mini look dead on but maybe a bit to small. Replicas and miniatures has minilite that will help you

but would have to change them to a 4 bolt.

Curt, I think this would be the kind you want.

I'm pretty sure they are made by Fujimi, the best rendering of a Minilite you will find, and particularly the Panasport. I got lucky and just scored a set on E-bay, as they are no longer made, and I was looking for a set for quite a while to put on a Bugeye Sprite I'm doing. The old Mini's wheels are only 10 inchers, so they wouldn't work. If Bob Downie could post a pic of the cool Bugeye he built, I think that's what he used. Bob?

The new Corvette custom rims are pretty sorry representations of Minilites or Panasports, or Cosworth Vega wheels, which really aren't Panasports. There's a guy on Hobby Heaven named Tom Mooty who is purportedly going to design the Cosworth wheel and have it made using rapid prototyping methods. Someday he'll have available the proper wheel for a Cosworth.

Thanks Bob! How will I know if this comes to pass? Will probably be limited run and I don't want to miss it.

I have no idea when it will happen; I do believe it's been discussed on this board before, and Tom may be a member here. Perhaps he'll see this post?

Since I have a Vega and the Keith Marks Cosworth decals, I also want a set of the correct wheels. If I hear anything I'll make it known here.

best ones ive seen come with that esci ford escort rally car but i assume that pretty much long gone. i swear someone made resin copies of those though, maybe rep and min of maryland?

and i think southeast finecast in the uk had some white metal ones. dont know about the 5 vs 4 bolt business though
