Jantrix Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) I'm trying to replace the windshield glass for the Monogram 37 Ford cabriolet. It is creased in the center. So far I have been unable to replicate the crease without getting I haze in the plastic at the bend. Any ideas. Edited December 16, 2012 by Jantrix
Art Anderson Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Rob, It all depends on the type and thickness of the clear plastic used. Have you looked at the clear acetate folders available in office supply stores? Art
Jantrix Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 No I've been using the clear stuff from Evergreen.
Guest Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Do you need a windshield Rob or are you just making a better one? Try finding some really thin clear acetate from a package of some sort. The thinner the better. That's what I always use. If you need one, send me a PM.
Deathgoblin Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 If there's a center divider in the windshield, couldn't you just make 2 separate pieces of plastic instead of trying to replicate the crease>?
crazyrichard Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 If there's a center divider in the windshield, couldn't you just make 2 separate pieces of plastic instead of trying to replicate the crease>?i think thats the way to go , make 2 separate pieces of glass and make them sit against eitch other in the right angle , so the edges that touth need to be sanded in a anlge .then glue them with clear glue and maybe poilsh the glass a bitand if you ant one piece and you heat it then it def. wrinkles where you toutch it , would only work if you make the ends longer then only heat it a tiny bit and slowly bend it , but imo its really hard to make that sharp edge without ruining the glass
Jantrix Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 There is no center divider. I have made do with the kit piece. Thanks for the help.
