Z06 "cleared" for clear *PICS*

Hello,

The Z06 is slowly progressing. Paint was finally approved by the PQRB (Paint Quality Review Board aka me) after 6 or 7 failed inspections requiring minor touch ups. The project has been "cleared" for the next step: Clear coat

These 2 pictures were taken after the first coat of clear was dry. I usually do 5-6 coats. Because of time constraints, I can only do 1 per day, in the morning before going to work.

Cobra Colors Moon Mud primer / Cobra Colors Velocity Yellow / Cobra Colors Ultra Gloss Clear

Moon mud protects the soft plastic against almost anything short of nuclear reaction.

It seems as though Cobra Colors Moon Mud Primer is the way to go! :wink:

I was talking to someone at our local auto body paint shop and they suggested something called "Bulldog" for covering soft plastics. After work tomorrow morning, I may stop by there and pick some up.

Ismael, is his paint pre thinned or do you have to buy a thinner to airbrush it? I had trouble with another's paint suppliers pre thinned paint as it was too thin I thought.

Give Leon's paints a try....they are great products! Here's my '68 Firebird shot with Cobra Colors Emerald Turquoise Metallic over Plastikote white primer, and topped with PPG two part urethane clear. The color went on very nice, right out of the bottle.

The yellow looks great, and I'm also a loud proponent of CC paint! Great stuff. Sometimes I add a few drops of Mr. Color Thinner but normally it's not needed.

I need to go down to the workbench and get some body prep done on my Z06. Think mine will be Tamiya Mica Silver, I was most impressed with it on the 904 I built during LeMans.

The paint is pre-thinned for airbrush. I thin it a bit more because of my weather conditions (High heat / high humidity) and personal preferences, but you can use it right out of the jar.
