martinfan5 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Well been waiting to get building another one of the FT-86/BRZ kits, This is the Tamiya version, this is going to be a box stock build, I am pretty sure I am going to paint it blue since I have the shade of blue on hand, but still thinking about a few other colors. Not much has been done yet, got all the body and bits in the first round of primer, chassis as well. before primer
mikemopar70 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Good start! The primer gives us a good idea of the body lines!! Keep it up!!
martinfan5 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Got the chassis and body in color, I used Tamiya TS-50 There is some very slight orange peel, I dont think I got the can warmed up enough, now I am trying to decide if I want to wetsand and then do one more wet coat, or just clear coat it
Scuderia Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Lookin' real good so far those are smooth and color is nice for it.
martinfan5 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Thanks Lawrence, I have four more or so I want to build of the Toyota version
Scuderia Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Lol nice, sound like me and Fox-Bodies.. Any race conversions?
martinfan5 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 This one is not really a race version, but I want to get it, dont like the wheels though http://www.modelscientists.com/products/1-24-eightyone-rocket-bunny-transkit-for-tamiya-fr-s I dream about this one (its the first pic on the page) http://www.superleggera.com.au/912/
scalemodelworld Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Looks great. Hard choice on the paint issue though.
martinfan5 Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 here is what I have been doing, first, getting the chassis masked to get the black painted got the engine done and the chassis after the black being painted, and part of the rear suspension done and the front I am switching the kit brakes, on the left is the kit , on the right are brake rotors that come with the XS tunning wheels set, as you can see, much better looking then the kit brake rotors interior and the body after clear
LAone Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Your BRZ looks great! I plan to get a BRZ kit soon. I already have a few 86 kits, one of which I plan to slap that rocket bunny kit. Keep it up man. Looking forward to seeing it done.

Keep it up man. Looking forward to seeing it done. If I may, get the Aoshima version if you dont care about having the little engine detail, do you know that Aoshima is releasing an STI concept version this month? I want to get the Rocket Bunny kit as well, but darn is it expensive Here is what I have got done, the interior is done got the trim painted, and the started getting the body finished up, windows getting installed, rear lights installed grill in place, along with the fog lamps
LAone Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Ann yeah, I was thinking of getting the aoshima version. The interior looks great man. Very nice work.
martinfan5 Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Ann yeah, I was thinking of getting the aoshima version. The interior looks great man. Very nice work. I have yet to build one, have two , but just looking at the kit, its far better then the Tamiya version, and the Tamiya version is a really good kit , but there are just several things that Aoshima has done better

Good thing I got mine early from ModelScientists Yeah, I dont think its going to happen, everyone is sold out now, I am sure there will be more resin kits coming out for the 86/BRZ kits Edited January 8, 2013 by martinfan5
Chuck Most Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I'm more interested in this version than the Toyota- somehow the mere fact this is the Subaru version makes it seem that much more esoteric to me.
