rmvw guy Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) This hood and old slide scan is all that's left of a '40 Ford Sedan I entered in a local hobby shop contest in 1962 when I was 16. It won the Custom class and only lost best in show because it was said to be "unroadable". whatever that meant. It did scale out to be only 48" high after the chop, channel and section on 13" wheels! The placing surprised me as the Candy Green paint was a disaster with dark blobs all over it. This is one of my favorites! Nice work everybody, congrats. Edited January 23, 2013 by rmvw guy
Helix Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Just two for me The Ford F350 was 'Best Unfinished' and the '66 Impala was 'Modellers Choice' Cheers Ray
rmvw guy Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Cheers Ray Now that is a cool trophy! Who wouldn't want that? Nice Chevy also, congrats.
Helix Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Thanks Ron, yep the old Aussie 'FJ' Holden....classic
Austin T Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I think that is officially the coolest model car trophy I have ever seen.Is it cast out of metal.
Tom Geiger Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 This hood and old slide scan is all that's left of a '40 Ford Sedan I entered in a local hobby shop contest in 1962 when I was 16. it. You've got the hood! You can build a car around that! Restore it!

zenrat Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 The one that means the most to me is the first one - peoples choice at an AMCC NNL years ago.
Helix Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I think that is officially the coolest model car trophy I have ever seen.Is it cast out of metal. Hey Austin, it's a wooden base with a resin 'FJ' nose, painted in Alclad I think
Models by Bear Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 This is my Throphy winner. I have showed it 3 times. It placed first twice, second once. And to my shock and amazement at one of the shows it received the peoples choice award.

What a wild kustom it is! Thanks for the comments on this with tiny photos! I was a AMT '40 Coupe and I do have a kit I was thinking of recreating my build from 1962! I have one 13" reversed rim and tire also .. ehhe. I know I used Cushenbery's Matador as inspiration on this (headlights and fender scoop) but not sure a rebuild will ever happen. It would be fun!.
