Mauricio Meyer Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Hi! This is some of what i have in my workbench, hope you find it interesting. The box: Test fiting the transparent parts...a big gap! My solution: Styrene stripes: Sanding and puttying: Until an accepatable fit is achieved: Body ready for paint!
Mauricio Meyer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 My color choice is "daytona sunset orange" I got it mixed at my local Sherwin Williams store. The paint is "base color" The clear is Sherwin Williams polyuretane: Then sanding and polishing sesions.... Panel lines painted: And semi gloss black aplied where necesary:
Mauricio Meyer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 I always separate pieces to paint by color, in batches: I used PPG automotive primer for all the parts: And made some pre shading: This will be the interior color: Engine and transmission also is getting its color: More soon! Thanks for watching, any comment or critics are wellcome!

Mauricio Meyer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Front ligths are solid: I drilled holes in order to look more realistic: I'll use some transparent sprue tu make the lenses
Gluhead Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Not my cup 'o tea car-wise, but that's some good clean work. Nice job.

Mauricio Meyer Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks for your positive comments!! I few "assorted" updates: Painting the reflectors. I used Vallejo liquid masking tape: And the result: A bit late i decided to open the front grill: From this: A little sanding in the back...to this: I'm never been fan of Revell's "bling bling" wheels: A few minutes submerged in chlorine (not shure how it is called in english) to strip the chrome and a few coats of testors silver enamel: Suspension with the classic corvette's.....hummmm.....also don't know that word.....=( you know what i mean:
Mauricio Meyer Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Cigarrete metalic paper was used for the back ligths refelctors: An oleum red wash was used to paint the corvette letters: The under chassis weathered with tamiya's weathering sets, and a bit of dry brushed silver oleum
Mauricio Meyer Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Vallejo liquid masking tape also was used to mask the interior: The basic colors applied: And starting with detail painted. I sprayed a coat of Ts-13 Tamiya clear with the airbrush to protect the acrylic paint because i'm thinking in making some light-shadow effects with oleum paints: More soon!
Tompidom Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 All these small changes and upgrades make the model a lot better! Keep up the good work!
Jim Whalen Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Hi, Very impressive work on the C6 - I've got one of these in the loft, plus a zr1 that I assume is basically the same kit so I'll be watching this thread carefully! You got lots of general tips as well, so keep up the good work. Cheers, Jim

scalemodelworld Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Amazing build. How do you paint the tiny detail like panel lines and "corvette" letters AFTER you've done the main colour??
