jparsons1969 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 This is my second time trying out the new airbrush. It's a Revell '70 Plymouth Superbird. The only thing I found at the local Hobby Lobby that resembled Petty Blue was Carribean Blue. It was a very difficult color to work with, but it turned out better than I thought it would. I've still got a long way to go with the airbrush technique though, but I'm learning. Thanks again for looking.
Green Duster Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Looks good. I'll have to remember that color for my builds. Got a couple Petty cars to build.
Guest Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Nice work. Two suggestions, Bare Metal Foil, and paint in between the spokes of those wheels with flat black.
realgone58 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Looks right on. Another name for that color was Corporate blue, and Super blue.
MAGNUM4342 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 VERY nice! Alan is correct. The carribean blue is a little too...well blue. 1970 Plymouth corporation blue or 1971/2 Basin street blue or 1973 Super Blue are all as close as you can get to Petty Blue. I really dig the shade you got out of that Carribean blue though. B)

MAGNUM4342 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Sometimes I wonder what the Chrysler guys were on when they named certain colors.
jparsons1969 Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks guys for the comments. As far as the BMF goes, that really looks like something that I could make a real mess out of. I've thought about trying it but I don't think the end result would come out well (I'd probably end up taking a hammer to it.)
