vintagedragfan Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 great progress James, you nailed the stance to the P&J rod, very cool
FASTBACK340 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Great job on the engine & chassis. And the stance is right
James2 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Your comments are humbly received. I was able to get the first color on today, I would show it but it is just white. I really hate using white paint, so many things can go wrong, but I think it turned out pretty good. I'm working up the interior now, pix soon...
crazyrichard Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 whow awsome progress just looks soo good , very very clean
James2 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Disaster strikes! After applying my decals and clear coating, I let things dry for two days. But, as you can see when I pulled the tape for the second color the decal came with it! I thought the clear would prevent this and I was saving time, but now I have repairs to make. Oh well, I press on...
tubbs Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 ... best laid plans... impressive build so far. hope you can come up with another decal.
Shardik Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 James, PM me if you need another decal or three. I have three sets of these that I have no intention of using.
James2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks guys, with a little decal solvent, patience and perseverance I think I may have saved the paint. Now the search is on. Johann you have a message.
Tompidom Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Personaly i spray all the colors first than do the decals and finaly the clear. Then you won't have any problems taking off the decals with the tape(at leat i have not had it. And to the possitive side, I love the color on the chassis and the engine looks great!
James2 Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 I've gone about as far as I can for now. The damaged decals are a little bit more than I thought at first, but I believe they can be saved, with a bit'of help. Will be cleaning up and clear coating soon. I have one more trick to attempt.Any way here are a few teaser pix... Thanks for looking!
vintagedragfan Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 great scallops! nice touch on this one James
rmvw guy Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 It's going to be a great looking hot rod. It's good to see some of the Rat Roaster parts show up on other projects so soon. The engine is awesome. I also love your seats and interior.
James2 Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Was able to finish this one this afternoon, view in "Under Glass"
Tom Geiger Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Despite the decal dilemma, it did come out very well. Good recovery! The colors pop so it's not just another 30s Ford. And I love those cowl light lenses
