BMX Addicts Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks Tomo... I wish I could say the same about my hands, everything seems to get drawn to them
BMX Addicts Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) A bit of a rough morning over here... Ruined, not one, but two firewalls. Call it lack of ability or missing the right kind of masking tape OR whatever!; I could not figure out how to paint the cage bars alone in metallic blue... Down to only one left, I decided to paint the whole top section in Blue, but I was so into putting it together, completely forgot to paint the shocks. Blah!!! I also have to find some fabric to make the seat belts... Edited April 11, 2013 by BMX Addicts
BMX Addicts Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 FINALLY!!!... Got stuff Will only be able to use a fraction of this kit, but it should help the detail a bit The infamous carbon fiber.... Which seems to be for the "OTHER" model, so I will have to wing it freehanded And some hardware
BMX Addicts Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 Ta-Ta!!!.... My carbon fiber debout A bit off on the silhouettes because of the bigger size prints and before giving it some heat; most visible marks are from excess glue and/or paint
Shelby 427 1965 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Looking great! Wish I had the patience to make mine as clean, keep it up.
BMX Addicts Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Thanks again Tomo, but not so fast... I may even ask if you have a gun handy and may be willing to put me down at once!!! Worked a little more on the car last night and honestly thought the chassis was finished (On a side note, this kit comes with no pedals)... This morning getting ready to continue working on the body I realized there is an irreparable mistake... When pressing the cockpit into the engine bay, the bottom pins came up and lifted the engine compartment This creates a gap that does not allow the body to fit all the way down... The boddy seats off center and the air filters do not fit right into the holes... Pretty frustrated at the moment; I may finish this just for kicks and giggles, but it tears me inside out
BMX Addicts Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) Thanks Derick... Finished the decals in the front... Edited April 13, 2013 by BMX Addicts
BMX Addicts Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Thank you Oscar... Missing the antennas and the mirrors, but the front is pretty much done (Is also missing the lower windshield decal, I ruined it while cutting another). WORD OF CAUTION: The Spaz Stix Ultra Shine Clear Coat Acrylic Enamel will melt the Tamiya paint and freeze the colors (You may not see it in the photos but the car turned almost to plain gray). Dooooood.... I'm getting schooled ove here!!!
Nacho Z Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Man Juan, I'm sorry to hear you are having so many problems with this car. I have been watching the build and it looks like you were really enjoying it until recently. I was too! Hope you finish it and good luck with the rest of it.
BMX Addicts Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks John, I guess all this is a big part of the learning curve so I can't complaint much...
BMX Addicts Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Here it is guys... A bit of a dramatic build but over and done with, thank you all for hanging around and all the props during the build. Off to watch the F1 race (2:12am)...
Nacho Z Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Glad you finished it! I think it turned out very nice. It is such a beautiful car that it looks good no matter what. BTW, I'm watching the F1 race as I type this, (I DVR'd it).
BMX Addicts Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks John, missed about 20 laps throughout the race... it was hard after spending 4 hours watching Nascar at Texas in the same day, but got to see the checkers, good race. Here is one final pic
BMX Addicts Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Thank you Brian... I just realized the spoiler is backwards
Custom Mike Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Build number three, and it looks great even with the problems. Every build will teach you something, and every kit, no matter who makes it, is a nightmare waiting to happen. You got through it and have a nice looking model for the shelf, I can't wait to see your next one!
BMX Addicts Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Thanks Mike, I can honestly say this was without a doubt the most challenging one so far, but at the same time I felt a few things throughout the build came out easier than in the previous two. Been thinking about building a Hot Rod.... I keep watching Donn Yost's DVD tutorials and he does really nice stuff (Like a Charger, a Dart, a hard top GTO or maybe even an old Ford pick up truck slammed down. OR maybe one of these??? Any suggestions? Edited April 14, 2013 by BMX Addicts
BMX Addicts Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Mr. Antsy pants... To my next project ---->
