comp1839 Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 so i'm back on the motor for the salt flat car. machined some butterflies for the injector hat. they are a scale 5" in diameter. put some c/f decals on the injector hat. did a little more work to the mags and fuel pump.
Ognib Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Is the hat carbon fiber? Noticed the weave pattern looks like woven mat.
comp1839 Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 the hat was machined from renshape, then painted matte black, then scalemotorsports c/f decals were applied, then cleared. still needs wet sanding and buffing.
futurattraction Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Superb job, Dave. I am totally mesmerized by the work you do...
Interceptor Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Just one word for this Dave : WOW I just love this build. Mark
crazyrichard Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 no words ... just pure art .... .....that engine .. pffttt , taking my imaginary hat of for you
comp1839 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) thank you guys!! well, i'm still working on the engine. getting all of the little details done is very time consuming. especially when there are no real examples to follow. made the idler pulley for the blower. put some lightening holes in it. tensioner pulley adjusting mount. got the mags, fuel pump, fuel filter completed and painted. plumbed the down nozzles in the manifold. also made an injector hat spacer. it will put the hat way up into the clean air, Edited May 12, 2013 by comp1839
comp1839 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 fabbed up a barrel valve out of styrene tube. added bolt detail to the blower and pulleys. it's finally starting to look like something.
Mooneyzs Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Dave... Absolutely beautiful work my friend.you have me drooling over this motor. Every little detail is just killer. Your talent just amazes me. I can't wait to see more.
Interceptor Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Fantastic progress Dave. That is one true small engine block you have standing there... Mark
futurattraction Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Phenomenal workmanship, Dave. Waaaay above and beyond...
bryan_m Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 that is so cool!! the frame is amazing, and the engine is just over the top! cheers bryan
Ognib Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) Excellent, Dave. How are you achieving the nice anodized look on some of your pieces? I read, someone said something about using permanent markers for this...? Edited May 13, 2013 by Ognib
comp1839 Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) thank you very much, fellas! ray, yes, i use sharpies as a tint to produce an anodized like finish. i also use some paint i found at pep boys. duplicolor metalcast is the paint. on the mags and fuel filter is used paint this time. be aware if you use a sharpie, i haven't found a clear coat that doesn't attack it. spent some time tonight wiring the plug wires.
