GoatGuy Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 The envelope please............(drum roll) ................and the winner is, comp1839. Looks great Dave.
dpride Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Looking good. What will you eventually use for the "salt tires" ?
comp1839 Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 the rear tires actually are the same dimensional size as goodyear largest land speed tire. 28x10.00x15. since no land speed tires exist in 1/8 scale. i may try to crown the tread area a little bit but, that's about all i'm going to do. spending $50.00 for the rubber and 8 hrs. grinding neoprene to make spot on tires, isn't in the cards for this build. as far as the fronts go, there are quite a few salt flat cars running dragster front tires on them.
comp1839 Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 it's been a while since i've gotten to work on the car. what i've been doing is alot of stuff you wont' see but, here are some pics any way.
Prostreet Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 That is going to look sick when done Dave, Has a great stance. Only thing i don't dig about it is the length of the rear fenders off the back, is there going to be a filler piece in there ?
comp1839 Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 thanks guys. i gotta agree with you joe. i'm just not sure what i'm going to do with it yet. i'm thinking about a full length belly pan and i guess it will depend on where it looks good at. maybe i'll do some kind of rolled back pan or something?
comp1839 Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 i had a some time to do a little more to the car. fabricated the front axle w/ mounting plates. machined a set of spindles, steering arms and support arms from the front torsion bar. partially assembled.
comp1839 Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 another front shot. also made some blower clearance.
AZ Boy Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Looks great, Dave! Man, that engine is just a monster sitting between those frame rails!
Ognib Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Nice work, Dave. Always look forward to your updates. As a newb in the hobby, you're one of my heros! What grit paper are you using for your body prep, at this point?
Prostreet Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Nice work on the axle Dave, For the rear fenders, What if you section them so the radius is closer to the body making them shorter?
Mooneyzs Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Dave... Fantastic work on this. Man it is looking Killer. I love how the front end is turning out. Keep up the great work!
