johnbuzzed Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 What does one call the windows behind the front windows- are they back windows or rear, side windows? And, what does one call the large piece of glass in the rear of the passenger compartment- the back window, or the rear window, or the backlight?
cobraman Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Are you talking about the vent windows or wing windows ?
johnbuzzed Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 No, the back seat passenger windows, after the driver and front passenger windows...
Blown03SVT Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 back windows, wing windows, quarter windows for the rear pretty much the ones you mentioned except backlight..
Casey Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 No, the back seat passenger windows, after the driver and front passenger windows... Quarter windows.
Greg Myers Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 and, the back window IS often referred to as the backlite.
Rob Hall Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 And though those narrow side windows may be called 'vent' windows, they usually don't open on modern vehicles..they are just there for practical reasons--on a 4dr they are there to allow the door window to be narrower so it can be lowered down into the door more fully. Though in modern cars w/ A/C it's rare to lower all the windows, at least I rarely put down rear door windows.
Deano Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 back windows, wing windows, quarter windows for the rear pretty much the ones you mentioned except backlight.. Actually, 'backlight' is exactly what the rear glass is called.
Greg Myers Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Actually, 'backlight' is exactly what the rear glass is called. that's actually what I said
cobramike Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 lol, when I was "much younger" the small windows just behind the windshield were called "NOSE DRAFT WINDOWS". So I grew up calling those that. The looked like noses, and you could direct air in all different directions including your nose!
