OK, My oldest daugher has decided for her German class in school she wants to build a model kit

Only problem is, it has to be of a German made product car

Her 1st choice is a Volkswagon Beetle, maybe a BMW or some sort ,,,,as I think these are the 2 most recognizable of the bunch

This will be here very model ever so it needs to be reasonably easy because it has to be finished in time to be graded for finals in about 4 or 5 weeks

Use the Tamiya VW Beetle. It is a gorgeous kit and everything falls into place. Plus it looks better than any other available Beetle. Or, if she's really young, there's a Revell BMW snap kit.

She is 15 , but till now has never shown any interest in building a model kit . But I think it has more to do with her younger sister building a couple, I've built a bunch so she asked me if I had some kind of German car ( I don't ) she could do for her German class project.

True, there's nothing like a Beetle. The original may warm the heart of a teacher, but the New Beetle is also available as a Revell snap-tite kit.

NOTE TO DADS: You can help with verbal guidance, but don't do an ounce of work yourself. Been there on many projects.

[Or how about Rommel's Rod? That should generate some class discussion :P ]

The car I see at most here in Germany is the Volkswagen Passat... But there is no model kit.

So I think the Beetle is okay. ;)

I vote Beetle. The New Beetle Revell kit would probably be the simplest if you can find one. Any of the Tamiya kits are wonderfully detailed if she is looking for that. Good luck what ever she chooses. :)

Thanks all, I was thinking Beetle because I think it's the most easily recognizable German automobile to even non car people.

Now just need to find one and let her have at it, a pre-painted snap kit would probably be quickest ( she has multiple projects that need completed for this end of year assignment)

Thanks again,

Bill

It might be close to 15 years ago now, but Revell offered a ProFinish pre-decorated version of the Snap-Tite New Beetle. Not sure if it matters, but the New Beetle was built in Mexico, not Germany.
