Here's a quick and dirty How To on making your own glass fuel filters as shown in the picture below.

The materials needed are: wire that you are using for fuel line ( i used red in the above example and in the how to), #0 crimp beads (the ones that I used are Beadalon brand that I got from Michaels), glass "tube" bead (i got them from michaels but don't remember the brand name), and glue ( i used superglue, but most glues should work)

step 1: put the beads on the wire...crimp bead, tube bead, crimp bead.

step 2: glue first crimp bead on the wire would you want it to be, followed by glueing the tube bead, and finally the other crimp bead.

pretty darn nifty...what size is the glass bead...

I could not find the backer card that came with the beads, so I went to Michael's and bought another package of them.

I don't see a size on here...

the length of them does vary a bit in the packaging...the one that I used is approx 1/8" long

To make it look eve better, paint the filter part with translucent yellow (so it looks like it's full of gas).

Nice addition, Harry...I'll have to remember that for the next one

I haven't tried the glass beads but might look into it. I use a very small diode. The paint for identification on them can be taken off and some are clear and some are kinda orange inside. I like the orange ones since it looks like gas in it.

I'd suggest cutting the tubing and leaving a gap in the middle of the bead.

It would look just that much more realistic without the red tube going through it.

Still, a neat trick.
