Making Windows?

I have a '64 Impala that I am building but the kit didn't come with any glass, another one of those garage sale finds. So I am looking for a good way to make my own. I have heard of using a clear 2-liter bottle to cut out the windshield and the back glass since it is already somewhat rounded correctly. Is this the easiest way to make windows or are there other methods that make decent windshields?

Depending on the curves of the glass, on some cars you can try making glass from clear acetate.

Yes, clear packaging can work but glass is pretty important. After spending money and man hours and effort on a project, why skimp on glass? Spend the money on good clear hobby shop acetate.

However, check with them what kit it is for as there may be more than 1 '64 Impala kit (although at that price it's not really an expensive mistake).

Another tip is that once you are able to cut the windows to your satisfaction, you can affix them to the model with two sided craft tape available at Michaels. It was less than $5 for the roll. I've been using my roll for a year now so it's a real good investment.

I want to try Túlio's tutorial on my '59 Chevy eventually. I'd like to use a heat gun instead of a mini torch however.

Thanks everyone for the tips and the link to the tutorial on making the glass from a bottle using a heat gun. Now I just hope that I can get it to turn out right.

Seems like the parts that Fred posted the link to would be the easiest way to go.
