Paint stripping clean question

I had to strip the paint on this dash , my question is this clean enough , I used drano and soft scrub and then washed it with dawn , or will the remaining paint be an issue ?

That's good for re-painting. Just be sure to prime it thoroughly.

Anne, I seriously doubt it . Shoot , I generally use the least expensive Brake fluid I can buy . For me , it works as good as any of the cleaners and when you have embedded paint in a finly grained area like I saw , just do as Charlie said to do, PRIME IT THOUROUGHLY !

Brake fluid to strip enamel paint?

Yeah...some of us old guys remember spilling a little brake fluid on the fender of Dad's car, while 'helping' and then watching in horror as the paint blistered off. It works.

OK that's pretty cool but how do I prep the body/part. For paint when I'm done striping it with brake fluid.. the reason I asked is cause if It's so harmful to the paint and It's basically an oil so It's gotta get deep in the pours to do damage like that

Brake fluid is not a petroleum product. It rinses off squeeky clean. A wash with some Dawn an air dry and ready to re-prime

l have seen the results after break fluid strip and it does work really good. l am going to use it next time.

I use to use brake fluid. Til it started going Over $1.50++ a bottle!!

I have Two Models that it did Not work on,

(And they are STILL out there in it 20+ years later!!!)

an Original AMT Keaton Batmobile primed with flat black,

and a Monogram re-issued 1/32 scale Aurora 65 GTO painted good OLD Testor's #03 red!!

The Red Fish-eyed. It should have still been fairly soft when I dropped it in the Brake fluid, But....................

I have been using Wesley's (Now BLACK MAGIC) Bleche White.

Works good, Though it too has colors/paints it does not like to strip

Brown Mostly so far!!

That's awesome! I got a 99 mustang cobra that started when I was 12 and did the worst rattle can job imaginable. The paint got bubbles and drips lol... I need to repaint it cause I'm dropping in a big cummins diesel and doing my own version of a death race car

Anne it's not too bad, could possibly be a little cleaner. I use a medium, or stiff bristled toothbrush, and warm water. If it does'nt come off with that, it probably wont be coming off at all.
