At her request, my wife and I are celebrating Mother's day by surf fishing at Torrey Pines State Beach. We'll be using our spinning reels w/ 8 and 10 foot surf rods.

Oh this is the year I get back into fishing. When I was a younger lad I used to guide on gull lake up in Brainerd MN. At that time I had an uncle who worked for lindy lil joe. I still have a ton of great tackle and every spoon (daredevil) under the sun. But after I went to school got a job and stuff I never have time and that is sad because it's one of my favorite hobbies.

Just went Friday night with some friends. I caught a dozen hand size Blue Gills before the cold ran us off . Great way to start the year.
