Looking at my stash of kits, and my buying habits, there's something that stands out. Nearly all of them are MPC! There's a few AMT's (some of them have MPC roots), and a few Revell and Monogram, and a couple of Lindberg, by by far the majority are MPC kits from the '80s and '90s. I didn't seek out MPC on purpose, though most of them are pretty nice. What I really like is the subjects. I bought subjects that I like, and for the most part MPC happened to be the ones who did them. Anybody else notice one brand over others appearing more in your stash?

I also enjoyed that wild MPC offerings back in the day, but man a lot of them were bad. I have a few but I have far more Revell.

If you look back to the 60's, MPC took on a lot of what I felt were missed opportunities from AMT. Granted, it was an off shoot company as AMT couldn't deal with the Union. AMT was also very friendly with the Ford family. Notice who got engines in their kits back in 1960. Note whose kits were made into the now famous "Trophy Kits " . Jo- Han concentrated on some of the larger , heavier cars like Cadillac and Chrysler . Revell got into the automobile business in a "Back door way by doing Mickey Thompson and Ed Roth creations . Monogram, Aurora , they were almost all over the place with some 1-32 kits and really obscure subjects . Each company had it's UNIQUE strengths .

I am all over the board. I have lately been collecting a few "oddball" cars from MPC (Chevettes, Monzas, Pintos), but I really appreciate modern tooled, well engineered kits from Tamiya and Revell. Overall, though, I have kits from many makers.
