sinister
Ok this may be a dumb question but here it goes. I have seen 1/25 engines for sale, it stands to reason that these engines would be for 1/25 cars. Am I correct? I dont want to order an engine that's as big as the 1/25 car!! ismaelg
You are correct it is for 1/25 cars. If an engine is the size of a 1/25 car it would be something like 1/4 or 1/6 scale. Thanks,
VictorSmalls
The question I have on this subject is, can you mix and match 1/24 and 1/25 scale engines in your builds without problems?
dub
The question I have on this subject is, can you mix and match 1/24 and 1/25 scale engines in your builds without problems? That depends on the tooling. Sometimes manufacturers can get the proportions off in either direction: too big or too small in either scale. Generally as a rule (obviously) 1:24 is bigger than 1:25; but it doesn't always work that way. I don't have any specific examples but I have read about a few. Anyone else ? Aaronw
The question I have on this subject is, can you mix and match 1/24 and 1/25 scale engines in your builds without problems? For the most part yes, realistically the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 is smaller than the margin for error of many kits. a scale foot in 1/24 scale is 0.5" a scale inch in 1/24 is 0.0416" a scale foot in 1/25 is 0.48" a scale inch in 1/25 is .04" Edited October 19, 2007 by Aaronw

jbwelda
another thing to think about is that if youre building a 1/25 car and want a really gnarly motor, you can use a slightly larger 1/24 motor and/or accessories. but as others have implied, in many cases you can mix and match, it just depends on how it looks to your eye. Modelmartin
The difference between 1/24 and 1/25 is 4%. It hardly matters in 99% of the situations a model car builder would run into. I measured my Monogram "1/24" Mercedes 540K and it turned out to be 1/21 - 12% bigger than stated. I was wondering why the 540K was almost as big as a Duesenberg!
