outragis Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I have a funny car body made up of resin, can it stand a purple bath to strip paint? or should I wait for paint to cure and sand? Thanks
LOBBS Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I'm pretty sure that CSC softens up resin and destroys it.
Edsel-Dan Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Who makes Wesley's Bleche Whyte now?? I know some resin caster's (Drag City Casting for one) suggest using it to Clean the parts, so stripping them is another option.
Ramfins59 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Scalecoat is a safe product for stripping paint from resin bodies & parts.
slusher Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Scalecoat is a safe product for stripping paint from resin bodies & parts. Good tip Rich, l bought a hood and was told to soak it in bleach to remove the mold release.
Art Anderson Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Water borne "cleaners" such as Bleche-White, household lye or ordinary bleach do not damage polyurethane resin. However, any cleaner having any sort of alcohol (such as methyl alcohol AKA methanol and just about any industrial alcohol will penetrate, soften and ruin any resin casting done from urethanes. Art
lanesteele240 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 (edited) I saw a lady cleaning a resin figure model on youtube with a oxi-clean product. She put the parts in water dropped a scoop in, waited for the bubbles to quit and scrub parts with a soft tooth brush. She did say to make sure to clean off all residue before it dries Edited June 8, 2013 by lanesteele240
