TheCat Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Wanted to do something a little different. It took a few month (very busy with work and all), but I finally finished it. This is the Revell/Germany kit.
TheCat Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Thank you guys. Skip - as you requested. Here's an interior shot.
peekay Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 This is really nice work! Your detail painting is exceptional; the emblems in the wheels and dash in particular. I could have used your skills doing the dash on a Johan Merc last year.
Dominik Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 ohhh..i know this (terrible fitting) kit...i've done a custom at the end. Your red Mercedes looks beautiful! like it. good job Felix

TheCat Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Thank you all... Yeah, that kit was not a great fit. Would I do another one? maybe not. But I did enjoy detailing the wheels and dash. That was allot of fun.
sjordan2 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 The thing about this kit, which is a Cabriolet A, is that it's not accurate. It comes with vertical side louvers on the hood, and recessed undersides to the fenders. You can have one of those, but not both. With the fenders on this kit, there should be chrome horizontal vents on the sides of the hood, as on the Italeri tourer kit. Or, with these louvers, the fenders should have protruding lips outside the fender tops, as on the Italeri kit. You won't find a 1:1 version of this kit without those modifications. The big dilemma here is that in the Monogram 540K coupe kit, which I have, BOTH the hood side louvers and fenders need to be modified, All they did with this kit that is different from the roadster was to add a separate hardtop, and it's all wrong.
