ajulia Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Evnin' folks! Its been some time since ive posted however my 3 month old keeps me on the up and up. I writting because the in-laws were over for my 3year old's birthday. I had mentioned to my wife that i wanted to build her fathers teenage street roller which was a 66 chevelle ss (Chevelles are my fav). so i that kit. The reason why im posting is because my wife mother said she had a 60's mustang that the stock color was teal or turquoise and it was also a drop top. Since she told me ive been trying to figure it out. I DONT KNOW ! I would like to found out what model and if any comp. even makes the kit and have the kit ready for X-MAS.Thank you for taking the time and lookin".will mos-def keep in touch. Peace, AJulia knu_lanz@yahoo.com
MrObsessive Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) ERTL/RC2 did a '66 for quite some time in their many reissues, however that one was a hardtop. With some patience you could turn it into a convertible. You can find those on the 'Bay perhaps......... Revell did a '64½ (titled 1965 in the real world ) Mustang Pace Car Convertible that you may be able to turn into a '66, but the model is 1/24 and I don't know of any '66 wheelcovers in 1/24. You could maybe take their '65 Fastback kit and use those wheels since that was the same optional wheel for '66. You'd also have to change the rear side "scoop" and interior to be correct for '66. though. There are probably some '66 annual convertible from AMT/MPC kits floating around out there but be prepared to pay BIG $$$!! Edited October 29, 2007 by MrObsessive

BIGTRUCK Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 There are probably some '66 annual convertible from AMT/MPC kits floating around out there but be prepared to pay BIG $$$!! You could'nt be more right on that annual..atleast a $100.00 or so..Danbury mint did one, but that can cost you also.....Motormax does a 1/24 diecast, but its a 64 1/2..........
41CHEVY Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Revell also did an annual 1969 the could be built as a coupe or a convertible. They show up on that auction siteonce and awhile. I did my wifes 69 ragtop from one. BUT THEY ARE PRICEY KITS as they were a 1 year issue. Paul

Jantrix Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Ask the mom-in-law if she has any photos. My family was photo crazyand we have boxes going back 4 generations. Tell her to pull ut the old albums and slides and see what you can find. Good luck.
