madhorseman Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) I bought this Action Jeff Gordon Autolite "1989" Thunderbird diecast a while back with the intention of turning it into a 1988 Bill Elliott Championship car. The paint didn't turn out so good, so I decided to make a Mark Martin 1988 Stroh Light 'Tbird instead. This where I'm at with it so far. Edited August 20, 2013 by madhorseman
slusher Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Very nice shade of blue. Do you have the decals??
madhorseman Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Carl, the paint is Duplicolor touch-up, Royal Blue Metallic from the local Auto Zone. For decals, I've got the Racescale sheet that allows for building either the 1988 or 1989 "Stroh Light" or "Strohs Light" versions. Earlier yesterday I spent time wet sanding and buffing out the paint. Edited August 11, 2013 by madhorseman
madhorseman Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) I know the color is not accurate to the 1:1 car, I thought it would look better if it were closer to the color of the product on the shelf. Thanks for looking. Roy Edited August 20, 2013 by madhorseman
Truck parts Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Roy, That is very nice looking. I'am building out myself right now. I like the paint you used.
bbowser Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Mark "the kid" Martin, great model. Stroh's beer was also big back in Ohio where I'm from, makes this a double play. Very nice!
slusher Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Outstanding looking model Roy, nice decal work also. Excellent work. love it...
madhorseman Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Thanks Guys! for all the positive comments. Racescale makes great decals, so that's a big help in getting great results. If You all liked this Thunderbird, I hope You like the next one as well. Roy
