Tompidom Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Got the paint in for this project about 2 weeks ago. So after i finished up the 2 Ferrari's I could start on this one. Next to the Porsche 911 this is my dream car. Got some nice extra's for this one \ And ofcourse a golf can't stay stock for very long, so i started cleaning it.
Tompidom Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Test fitted the bumper kit This afternoon i started painting all the parts and the body Now i have to wait untill the clear on the body has dried so i can start masking it off for all the black accents.
Jim Whalen Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Hi, Nice start to the Golf - these were great cars. Always fancied a 16v version but never could really afford to get one. Will be watching this build!
Shelby 427 1965 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Will be watching this very closely for the certain reason of owning one Good luck!
beeRS Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Nice work. I love the colour. Does this kit have the 8v engine or the 16v?
Bastardo Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Nice start The color is lovely! I have the same kit waiting to be worked on.
Jeremy Jon Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Body kit looks clean on there, there was a dark green 16V side carbs 2.0L in town here years ago, sweet look'n ride!!
gman Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The paint job looks nice- especially considering it is covering red styrene (notorious for bleeding through). You've got a nice shine on a nice looking colour- mind telling us what paint/primer you used?
om617 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 It will look great with the "90 bumpers". As for the engine,it seem like this is the 8valve version.
Tompidom Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Nice work. I love the colour. Does this kit have the 8v engine or the 16v? Well the kits instructions and decals tell me it has a 16V engine. But to be hones I would not know how much valves it has. The paint job looks nice- especially considering it is covering red styrene (notorious for bleeding through). You've got a nice shine on a nice looking colour- mind telling us what paint/primer you used? I always use Zero Primer color and clear Have an update for you guys aswell Did some masking and painting today Added some extra colors to the engine bay Put the decals on the seats and added some belts Painted the grill black and added the red stripe Took a picture of how the wheels look on the body Thats it for now
Shelby 427 1965 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Looks bloody cleaner than my real one! Great work
heinz74 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 i like what you did to this kit...it looks great turning it into a semi 1990 model and all that.. but Revell really did a bad job on this subject...i know a lot of the US guys on this forum complain about some US car kits that are way off but for me this one is the winner ...and than some.. in your case the box art represents a 1986 8v in tornadored ..and even that drawing isn't accurate..and the upholstery decals are not that of an early 8v GTI..(not even close) the engine is so bad in this and miles of from the supposed 112 hp ev engine code 8v engine.. the body is also much to toylike and the roofline is way of.. this kit was later reissued as a 16v ...and it had the same engine...and THAT is a very big flaw Fujimi also did a Golf mk2 both a 1986 and a 1988...those are much rarer and expensive but 200% better like wat you did with it Tom ...hij kan zo naar MIVW volgend jaar
hjracing Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Great build so far! The paint job and the details are really awesome!
