Anyone order from Plaza Japan

I did a search and could not find any info, so I was wondering if anybody has ordered from plazajapan.com if so how was the experience, good customer service, fast shipping etc. ? They have a lot of cool kits and I would like to purchase some but I would like to know peoples experience with them before I buy

I haven't. But looking at the kits they appear to be fairly common. If you can find a local or reputable, or preferably both, vendor that carries the brand you're looking for they should be able to help you out if you don't want to take any risks.

Dont know about Plaza Japan.com but they seem pretty reliable...As for me,I bought kits on ebay from either rc.sausage.dog or 1sthobbymodel (dont remember wich one it was),but these came packed in boxes with Plaza japan tags on it. The weird thing is that my items were shipped from hong kong and NOT from japan.

So, I guess Plaza Japan is like a big retailer for the asian market,can't be sure about it though...Anyways,I suggest you give it a try by buying only one kit first(Or something less expensive) to make sure everythings alright. I bought a lot of kits on ebay coming from different places all over asia and never had problems with it at all. Plus,shipping usually is faster than ordering from your local country.Maximum 3 weeks is what I had to wait to receive something from there.Prices are usually low and service is good so if I was you, Id give it a try especially for these very nice kits .

I did order two kits from them once, and they never arrived, I did get my money back , that is the one time that I have ever not received an order from Japan, I am not saying who's fault it was, I didnt get a tracking number as it was shipped SAL, so there is chance that it did get lost.

@Bigfordguy How was it? I mean your experience with Plaza Japan? I pre-ordered a BMW Platz and will post my experience here as soon as it arrives. I have read good reviews, so far, but will always rely on Japanese e-commerce sites for authenticity and services.

I have ordered from them twice. Other than the long delivery time, I was happy with ordering from them. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again

Funny to see a thread from 11 years ago brought back to life.  I have ordered from them for quite some time, originally just through their eBay listings, but more recently I have also used their website directly. No problems.

Thanks a lot for your input. Yeah, I figured the long delivery will be the challenging part. @peteski I was looking for reviews, specifically for model cars ordered from Plaza Japan and found this site from Google. I thought there will be more credible inputs here.

Plaza Japan has been around for probably over 20 years and I found their shipping costs and delivery speed satisfactory. Of course for faster delivery (and tracking) you would have to pay more than for the slower shipping. I suspect that not very many U.S. members here buy kits directly from Japan.

 

But if the same kit you want is available both within U.S. and from dealers in Japan, make sure to compare prices (including the shipping costs). In some instances (especially if buying just one or two kits) the prices are quite similar.

About 5 years ago when the exchange rate was good, I made an order of 7 or 8 kits from Plaza Japan. There was a sweet spot where the shipping was lowest per kit. They had some kits on clarence that were what I was looking for so that also lowered the total cost.

The shipment took months to receive but was a great surprise when it arrived. Well packaged and no damage.
