futurattraction Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Futurattraction Scale Products is excited to introduce a new product – a new 14x32-15 slick. They are designed to work with the smaller design wheels used in the old MPC and AMT pro stock kits from yesteryear. Features include being cast in soft rubber and having no parting line in the middle of the tread. Dimensions are shown in both 1:25 and 1:1 scale for both the FSP slicks and original kit slicks. Chief Joseph was kind enough to cast these for me, so you know their quality is top notch. As can be seen, the FSP dimensions are truer to scale than the kit offerings. I currently have them on hand. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
ratnasty Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Scott I just sent an order your waythanks Chuck
John Pol Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Scott where did you get the center lines from need a set for my 79 Bill Jenkins Camaro. Love the tires they look great. John Pol
futurattraction Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks Chuck. I appreciate the business. John - I actually have the wheels. I mastered them, with Jim Littiken's machining skills added in. They are actually Cragar SuperTricks rather than Centerlines... Gregg, thanks so much for the kind words. Thank you, Len. I appreciate it.
futurattraction Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) I should add that the tires have some excess rubber where they were vented that will have to be trimmed off. I forgot to mention that yesterday. You can sort of see it in the smaller picture at about the 4 o'clock position. Edited September 1, 2013 by futurattraction
John Pol Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 So this rims would be the same ones as Bill Jenkins ran on his 79 or 80 Camaro? John Pol
futurattraction Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 John, I wasn't sure what RMS ran on their 79 or 80 Camaro. I ended up going to back and did a YouTube search for "1980 NHRA" and found the Summer Nationals. I pulled screen shots from a segment on contingency decals, the first of which shows the rear wheels and Cragar easily visible. Interestingly, the second shot is from the same video with a close up of the front wheel in the staging beams. The shot is very clear and shows the front wheel being a Centerline, along with a Centerline decal on the front fender. I guess it makes the point that by running different manufacturers on each end of the car, they were able to get contingency money from two companies rather than one.
ratnasty Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) Scott I got my wheels and tires today and I gotta say they are AAWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMEEEEthanks Chuck Edited September 9, 2013 by ratnasty
futurattraction Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Thanks Chuck! I appreciate your kind words, bud...
ratnasty Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Scott what are you using for the front tires
futurattraction Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 They will work with Moroso or Goodyear Front Runner tires. They are a tight fit. I need to look at this at home and remind myself - you may have to remove the thin ring of vinyl that runs down the middle of the tire interior for them fit slide in as far as they should go.
Steve Prideaux Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Scott, I received my order from you very quickly and the quality is top notch. thanks for providing these products for us modelers. I will be sending you another order very soon. thanks again Steve Prideaux Edited September 10, 2013 by Steve Prideaux
MitchP Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Scott - these are fantastic! Question: do you intend to mold some with that wrinkle wall effect? I love that; the only problem is I've just recently learned the trick to shaving slicks to create that low pressure meaty look and trying to do that with a wrinkle wall would be very hard. I hope these will work with my newer Revell kits like Shoebox Ford and '55 Chevy Streetburner pro mod as I don't like two piece slicks they include for shaving. Also, for those not having to be period correct with wheels, I'll bet these look sweet with SLIXX convo pro as well.
futurattraction Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Steve - Thank you for letting me know that your order arrived safely and that you're happy with what I sent you. It's my pleasure to offer some different items from the norm for modelers. Mitch - Chief Joseph suggested that I do some wrinkle wall style slicks. I've never done anything like that, so will have to ponder it further. I do have every intention of offering a 16" rim slick that will be very close in scale to what are run on current pro stockers, which are 17x33.5-16. It's the slick I've got mocked up in my Pro Stock Mustang thread. Those, I can confirm will work with the Weld Racing wheels.
MAGNUM4342 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Those are some really slick looking tires! WHAT? Someone had to say it!
futurattraction Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 LOL! Might as well be you...
Len Woodruff Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Got mine yesterday Scott. I guess I missed the post about these being "soft rubber". They fit my Turned Aluminum Cragars perfectly.
futurattraction Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 That's great, Len! Thanks for letting me know... Are your turned Cragars from MicroNitro?
Len Woodruff Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 That's great, Len! Thanks for letting me know... Are your turned Cragars from MicroNitro? Yes they are Micro Nitro Scott.
Steve Prideaux Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) Scott, thank you for making these great products. I just put them on a couple of my builds under construction. The red Dodge has the wheels on it and the Plymouth has the wheels and rear slicks..I put RB Motion bolt heads, on the front wheels. Great products. Thanks again, Steve Prideaux Edited September 13, 2013 by Steve Prideaux
