simonr Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) OK, I'm already at home trying to get things back to normal in my head after a dream weekend. Everything was like I tried to explain it would be in the other post I started. Enter to the Daytona track, like a good friend of me here in Puerto Rico told me, its a show for itself. It was so impressive had at first sight the 911 GTR's Porsches taking the banking at 180+ MPH. The amount of Porshces was unbelievable, I can tell that nearly the 95% of Porsches ever produced were there. You could find almost any example of Porsche, either track or street. Something that really freaked me out, was the "Library" of Porsche and racing subjects you could find there. Also a great selection of racing DVD's and models, specially 1/43 and 1/32. About the model show, it can be told that was like the 1:1 couterpart. You guys have to notice that it was the first ever Porsche model car show, and, that was only for Racing subject matter. There was even a 1:1 Scale Porsche 917k right in the middle section on the contest room. One of the highlights(at least for me) of the show, was finally meet Bob Downe and Ken Mouton. Man, what a pair of excellent modelers and better persons. I could see some of their great creatons that untill last saturday I had only see here in this forum(in the case of Bob) and in the magazines(in the case of Ken). The selection of racing modes was exquisite and amazing. I was surprised for the huge amount of big scale models and their great quality. Another thing I liked a lot was the Silvertone display by the ACME club from Atlanta and the other IROC 911 Porsches display also displayed by them. My respects to Mr. Henry Trent, coordinator of the event, and to everyone in charge of such event, you guys did a magnificent event...Bravo!!! In my personal job, I was lucky enough to bring home 3 awards. They just only offered best in class awards in the NNL format on each class. I took the 1982-present with my Modeler's Porsche GT-1, Best Small class, and the huge surprise of the Best of Show award with the same Profil 24 1/43 Porsche 962C which it progress I had been posting here. Here are a couple of the almost 300 pictures I took. Enjoy it!!! Simon P. Rivera Torres more to come.... Edited November 6, 2007 by simonr

dub Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Holy Porsche paraphanilia, Batman! That's some impressive stuff. Wish I could have been there. Thanks for the great pics! Congrats for your win too.
Zoom Zoom Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Simon, great meeting you and congrats on your awards! We had a blast, really enjoyed putting on the model show and being part of the event in general. My head is still spinning from all that we saw. Most likely we'll be doing it all over again in 2010. Glad you got photos of the crowd; I was taking model shots early before the crowd. That 1:1 917 model was great! Here are the model photos I took: http://public.fotki.com/ACME-IPMS/model_ca...port-reunion-i/ Here are the 1:1 photos that I took: http://public.fotki.com/ACME-IPMS/full-siz...rt-reunion-iii/

simonr Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 I just want to know all those who take from their time to look and aprecciate the pictures of this historical event. I just hope to see more people from this forum in the next one with their Porsches, just to have fun. Simon P. Rivera Torres
Ferrarifreak Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 As one of the builders, as well as my son, of a couple of the IROC cars on the display, I must say it's quite an honor to know that we have built models that have been displayed on those famous grounds. I wish I could have been there because it sure looks like it was a great event. I would like to thank Bob and all the wonderful people from the ACME club who handled the event. I'll just have to plan ahead sooner for next year.
