I have been working on this for quite awhile now, but have never been satisfied with the outcome. I have made several attempts to vacuum form the windows, each attempt has failed. Now what to do with it. Should I make a one off convertible or ?? Let me know what you guys think! Thanks for looking.

This is what it is suppose to look like.

you're real close on this one and it's not an easy subject to replicate.

I think I achieved the green on the real one by shooting candy jade green over metallic green, but it's been so long that I don't remember if it was testors or pactra rattle can.

Maindrain has been fighting a custom windshield and it looks like he succeeded, I suggest seeing if he has some tips or procedures you can try to complete your replication.

on a different note, it looks a little like your taillight fairings are a littl large compared to the real one and the tops of the rear fins kick up a bit more that the real one.

I would vac form the entire roof in clear including the frame work, then just BMF the frame work. Trying to make the roof sections hinge look almost impossible from where my skills sit.

You don't mention what equipment you have to do vac forming, or what the nature of the failures.

The rest of the build looks great.

So did Pontiac use a corvette body originally or was that Pontiac's own design for the body?

I think all the design groups were playing with the general vette shape in that time period. Olds, Buick and Caddy concept cars had similar shapes back then.

The paint on this is darker than the original, but I get to repaint it due to some of the body work shrinking and cracking in places. I did this about 8 years ago, couldn't get the windows right than put it away. I was using an old Mattel vacu-form machine to form the windows, it work on almost every occasion except for this build.

I tried doing the entire roof just never worked out. Even tried windows from different kits they never looked right. I was using an old Mattel vacu-form unit for the windows, they would either fog over or wrinkle too bad to use.
