Rudy2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 was there ever a model made of a 1960 chevy panel truck ? looks like it would make for a good build
jeffs396 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) Hey Rudy, do you mean sedan delivery like the pic you posted? Panel truck is truck based, sedan delivery is passenger car based. If sedan delivery is what you're looking for, then a non-stock 1/24 kit from Revell/Monogram is out there: But this Flintstone resin is the way to go if looking for a more stock looking '60, combined with the Revell '60 Impala as a donor kit... http://www.ebay.com/itm/200491818871?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1002wt_1018 Edited October 8, 2013 by jeffs396
george 53 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Be aware THAT body has a CHOPPED roof, as it was just tranplanted directly from the Monogram kit. You CAN'T built a stock Panel sedan WITHOUT raiseing the roof BACK to stock height. I do have this body, and it IS very nicely done!
Craig Irwin Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 The Flintstone body also has non stock slanted door post and up market Impala sidetrim, but will build into a nice simi custom.
Skydime Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 was there ever a model made of a 1960 chevy panel truck ? looks like it would make for a good build I'm not 100% confident but, there are a few elements of this picture that make this one look like a hearse.
Steven Zimmerman Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The 1/1 60 sedan delivery from Chevy used a higher windshield and roof than a stock 60 Impala type body. Flintstone's sedan del, while having a lower roof, accepts the windshield glass from the current Revell 60 Impala kit....an added plus, because this is a complicated windshield to try to replicate. Also the 1/1 sedan delivery has a grooved inset on the roof above the doors, and running to the windshield. Art Anderson can probably give a better description of this......'Z'
checkmate Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think the Flintstone 60 and his 56 Ford sedan delivery both run chopped tops to allow for kit glass, that and they were probably based of the kits originally........either way it makes the conversions easier than trying to make a windscreen to fit.
Chuck Most Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think the Flintstone 60 and his 56 Ford sedan delivery both run chopped tops to allow for kit glass, that and they were probably based of the kits originally........either way it makes the conversions easier than trying to make a windscreen to fit. They were both based on Hardtop kits (The '60 an Impala, and the '56 a Victoria), which had higher roofs than the pillared cars and sedan deliveries, which would explain the discrepancy. It makes for a somewhat incorrect model, but you are absolutely right about having an easier time fitting the glass. Now- in the off chance you did mean panel truck as opposed to sedan delivery, at one time someone made a '64/65 panel truck body- if you took that and used it from behind the doors and back with the cab from an AMT '60 Chevy pickup body (from the doors forward) spliced on, that would net you a '60 Panel. I have no idea who cast the body, though- but I've seen a few of them.
