Scottnkat Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 My kids and wife build models too, and my son has finished his Chevy. It's built box-stock except that he had to widen the body to fit the wheels and tires under, so there are spacers that he made between the chassis and the body. He's was still debating on adding the decals or not when we took these pics. Here's the engine After consideration, he decided to put the decals on the side.
Erik Smith Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Tell your son nice work. Pretty clean construction. Something simple that would help a lot - black wash on the grill.
Shardik Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Nice job. The decals definately help with the ambiguous paint termination for the two tone. Also, I'm impressed by the creative problem solving for getting the wheels to fit. Proof that there are valuable lessons to be learned from this hobby. Congratulations on making this a "family affair".
riverart Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I agree the decals make this work great! Good job kiddo! I myself have been tasked to build my son his favorite car, a Lambo Countach.
PappyD340 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Very NICE build Scott's son, I think I see a little friendly family competition going on here. Have you guys ever considered having a family build off, that would be very cool!!
Scuderia Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 That's pretty awesome and super clean. Good stuff
Geno Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 He done really well, hopefully he'll keep at it.
crazyjim Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Very nice build of my most favorite automobile.
Scottnkat Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 Damien says thank you. He's 13 years old. We haven't really done a family build off because everyone always seems to have different models in different states and not everyone enjoys cars. My 15 year old son is building a Warthog, my 16 year old daughter just finished a Ghost Rider vinyl figure, and my wife is building a sailing ship right now. With all the projects going on at the same time, it would take up even more space than we already use.
