1930fordpickup Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Last week my mother passed. Yesterday was her funeral and also her 75th birthday. Go back to 1971 when my parents lost an infant daughter Amy. My brothers and sisters have been told by mom that when she passed that Amy would be put on her casket . Because of todays cost that would not be able to happen. When we pulled into the cemetery it looked odd to all of us . Amy's grave stone was to he right of the funeral tent . It seemed to us that they dug the lot next to my late brother . To make an already long story a bit shorter , It turns out that back in 71 Amy was put in the wrong location so Mom gets her wish all along. Happy Birthday Mom.

Tom Geiger Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Sorry for your loss, but a touching story. My wife lost a 13 year old sister about 35 years ago. The family always assumed that the parents would join her in the cemetery but hadn't made any provisions, thinking that they'd all be in the same grave. Upon my father in law's death this past year, they learned that her grave was a single, and the rest of the cemetery is all sold out. Just when things didn't look good, the cemetery man made a suggestion that we could cremate my father in law and place the urn in the same grave. That worked for the family and my mother in law will eventually join them the same way.
1930fordpickup Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Thank you Tom. Also thank You for the info about the shared grave . A few of my siblings were wondering about doing the same.
