Jantrix Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Preferably of the General Motors variety. I want to build a restomod of the Monogram '69 GTO with a modern non-carburated engine. I have a few idea's but they involve some scratch building. Any ideas would be welcome.
Jantrix Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) After more research the Monogram '91 Corvette ZR1 might fit the bill. It's got a monster engine. Any of Monograms '91 and later Corvettes would conceivably work though. Anyone other ideas? Edited November 12, 2013 by Jantrix
Jantrix Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Eureka! We have it. Monogram Calloway Corvette. The intake will even match up with the ram air ports on the GTO. I'll leave the thread open if anyone has other ideas that might help out other folks deal with the pain in the posterior, that is 1/24 scale. Edited November 12, 2013 by Jantrix
Rob Hall Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Those Monogram Corvettes and maybe the '91 Firebird (reissued in the last year or two) are about the most recent in 1/24th I can think of, later Revellogram kits usually all are 1/25th. Edited November 12, 2013 by Rob Hall
zenrat Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Fujimi early Skyline or 240Z six? Tamiya Toyota Celsior V8? Tamiya Landcruiser turbo diesel six? Tamiya Mercedes 500SL V8? I'd go for the diesel in a GTO...

I'd go for the diesel in a GTO... Hey that's that 500SL V8 powered my 300sl Cannonball rig!! Good looking lump and the car is ugly as all get out so using the kit for just the engine is all alright
Jantrix Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Well I've received the Monogram Calloway Corvette (rather mysteriously) which is 1/24. The twin turbo'd L98 is going to be perfect, especially with the top mounted intercoolers that sit below two scoops on the Corvette hood are pretty darn close to the ram air ducts on the GTO. It will be near tailor made for my pro-touring GTO. I'm pretty darn happy with the idea. I'll stretch the Corvette chassis to fit the GTO, to really give it a performance stance. Thanks for the help guys.
