freakshow12 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) Coming along nicely. What are your plans for the lower rockers? Edited December 17, 2013 by freakshow12
Ramcharger Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 It's going to have side skirts and a front air dam. I'm debating on a rear diffuser and spoiler., I also need a '70 Boss 429 hood scoop to cover the gaping hole in the hood. I think I have another round of bodywork to do on this car before it's done.
Jantrix Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Are you going to be able to tuck the rear wheels? You're going to have to cut the hood some more when you add the air cleaner to the throttlebody.
Ramcharger Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Yeah the throttle body will be an issue, I may have to graft in part of the 2010 hood. The wheels are as tucked just right for now, but there is more bodywork to come.
Platerpants Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 just dont take too much of the old school outta this car
Metalmad Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Corporate Ford just sent us a cherry 68 fastback Mustang to do a project for them & I think it may involve a Coyote motor.
Ramcharger Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Seth, feel free to steal as much of this model as you like. I think it's pretty cool to use the Mod motor in the old bodies. I gotta say, your post made my day.
Metalmad Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Thank you Ron. I'm still messing with ideas in my head about the build & have somewhat of a plan on what I will do. Just got word today that the 68 we got this past week from corporate Ford is that the project revolves around the Mcqueen estate and thats all I can say for now & the car we build will be a one off design for Mcqueen's estate. Will probably debut at SEMA next year. If you get a chance Ron google ICON Thriftmaster that is a truck we built for SEMA this year and will be building per order.
Ramcharger Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 I painted and installed the rear bars for the suspension. Still doing the finish work on the interior, I'm filling those silly holes they put in models to fit hood hinges.
66belair Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 That is some nice suspension work! Very realistic.
Ramcharger Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Okey-Dokey! Here we go again with more work on the ol' 'Stang. I finished the interior, these cold days are a godsend for modelers. It's the stock '68 interior with the '10 Shelby seats. I added the Cobra Jet roll bar, folded down the back seat, added decals to all of the gauges and the shift pattern on the knob. I dull coated all of the chrome trim and then spent this morning adding Detail Master 5 point harnesses. They are a bit of a challenge. After I finished I noticed the shoulder belt adjustment is backwards, oh well! The funky green color will make sense after I paint the body. Now on to the final touches on the body and then paint!
mademan Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Excellent build so far! Im really diggin the interior colors!
Ramcharger Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 The long and tedious process of body work is almost done. It was done until the primer showed some flaws I missed! Anyhoo, I still have to fit the rear tail light panel a little better and do some sanding on the front spoiler, then I need to make and mount a rear spoiler. After that, I can think about some paint, which will be another drawn out process. The next build is going to be box stock!!
