paul@detaildownunder Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 (edited) Here's my 49 Merc that I finished a few week back.Paint is Testers Green Metal Flake straight from the can then Polished Body Mods: The Rolled front pan, rear wheel covers and grill are from the AMT Merc,I added a frenched ariel with a Scratchbuilt head on top (weird yes)and the tail lights are from a AMT 50 Ford kit,the mirror and rear bumber holes have been filled for a smooth clean look.I also machined some bullets for the wiper mounts. Wheels: The tyres are the kit blackwalls with painted whitewalls and the rims are the kit sleelies painted red with hubcaps from the Johan 59 rambler wagon with Machined bullet centers. Chassis: The rear has been lowered about 3 scale inches and the front is kit height.Machined mufflers were added and the rest painted various colors. Interior:Painted flat white with red piping, red flocking for the carpet and parcel shelf and a gloss red dash with pin head knobs and metal foil trim. The rear seat has some item that the owner of this sled picked up from a swap meet or car show whilst out cruzin on a sunny weekend! It also has a Srunken head shift knob! Engine: Painted hot chilli red and the rocker covers were replaced with items from an ARII kit and the air cleaner is from my parts box and plug wiring was added. Raul_Perez Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Paul, Great build!! Those are the same exact body mods that I made to my Merc!! Oh well, so much for being unique. Where mine differs is in the interior, engine and wheels. I used the engine, tires, wheels, interior and mirrors from the '97 Mustang Cobra SVT. I painted mine Testors lacquer Plum Crazy with a light gray interior. I think that I'm going to use the Buick grill in mine. What a great kit!! Keep up the good work, Raul
carro Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Sweet Merc! really dig the color and that interior is just awsome.
oldcars Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 The car is cool but the interior is fantastic. How did you do the piping without any glue marks? Also is that a turn of the century Jack in the Box ball ? Richard

Do you mean the head on the ariel?
Gregg1LE Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Looks super, perfect paint, outstanding work !!!
Kyle Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 That is very cool. I love the interior, especially the rolled up rat fink poster. The mesh in the air cleaner is a nice touch as well.
