DriftingRookie Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 In the famous words of Mike Finnegenn "take the hood off" this Superbee is going hood less the hood isn't sitting right so I said screw it
Jantrix Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 In the famous words of Mike Finnegenn "take the hood off" this Superbee is going hood less the hood isn't sitting right so I said screw it Ashley, please do not take this as a personal attack, but I think you are missing the point of what we do here. Fix the hood. The model does not dictate how the model turns out. Besides this is a Cannonball CBP, a racer without a hood would not do well in a rain storm.
zenrat Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) ...the model does not dictate how the model turns out... Too right. Most of mine fight like hell to avoid being turned into what I want them to be. Ashley - if it's getting to you then put it to one side and do something else. You've got plenty of time before the start and too much effort invested in it to cut corners or risk slamming it into the wall. Anyway, yeah baby i've started! The Doyousha Buick is typical of their nostalgia heroes range in that it has a reasonable body with a horribly shallow interior (to hide batteries and motor) and a generic undetailed chassis. Previously i've cut down a NASCAR chassis to fit one of their Nissan bodies. This time i'm using a Monogram '91 Firebird. The wheelbase is spot on which makes a nice change. I just had to chop a bit off the front of the chassis as the Firebird has a longer nose. Firewall and inner fenders were moulded with the Firebird body (Buick just has a drop in engine plate) so I cut them out and will glue them into the Skyhawk body. I think it looks good white with a red interior so I might keep it like this bar maybe red racing stripes. I'll use the Firebird wheels & tyres and small block but will probably be adding a little forced induction. Edited May 20, 2014 by zenrat
JTalmage Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Fred, that car needs about a half dozen 1:25 scale leaf blowers in the back! lol
Psychographic Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) I guess if we are going to race across the country, a stock 53 Vette suspension might not be the best option. After cutting out the front crossmember, I went about kicking the front frame rails up and then added the crossmember back in, in it's raised position. Then I cut out the back arches and then wrapped some styrene around an 87 Corvette IRS. Now with fully independent suspension, along with a very low center of gravity it should be quite a canyon carver. Edited May 21, 2014 by Psychographic
TimJ Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Great work so far everyone. I've got a bit more work done on the Mustang. The underside has been given some body color overspray, the suspension has been painted and the rest of the body panels primed.
Pim Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 well my Chevelle will no longer be twin turbo and will be given side pipes with no mufflers I'm thinking of adding a second entrant but we'll see
Stuntman Mike Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Cool, a custom made 7 cylinder engine. Now that´s different. Hope you´re going to add a wicked scratchbuilt DOHC head and a cool injection or turbo setup. I know it´s still in the mock up stage, but the tire tread is facing in the wrong direction.
DriftingRookie Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 The Superbee is mainly done, just need to find the tail lights that fell and the front air dam which I might paint flat black i will post pictures of it soon

JTalmage Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I'm with you on this. I'm working so hard to get old projects done, I'm not sure I'll get to to it. I've just been doing too much other stuff... working on 2 of my 1:1 project cars is what is keeping me from doing any building.
