hacked Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 made a start last night, got rid of the spare wheel to make room for a bigger fueltank ,removed front crossmember and are now trying to make room for the six speed.
KurtisEBear Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Im in with a 60 Ford Falcon ute or as you yanks call it a "Ranchero" just finding a kit and sourcing parts, you could say this thing will be "loaded" haha
Zarana-X Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Stock wheel (didn't come with wheels) compared to the Mud Mudders Ground Hawgs I actually like the tires you're using better. The tires it comes with look too narrow for how high it sits:
JTalmage Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Reminds me of a camaro I once saw while in Florida.... will have to dig the picture up...
RodneyBad Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I actually like the tires you're using better. The tires it comes with look too narrow for how high it sits: Paint and weathering looks good. I like the blacked out Grill, Yup, Kit tires suck, I think they are Semi tires..
Lunajammer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Like last year, I've cut out the existing tank and replaced it with a larger capacity, scratch built fuel cell. I've also trimmed the chassis length a tad to fit under the shortened body.
DriftingRookie Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 working on the chevell still waiting for door panels to show up, I also have the front suspension coming in for the Oldsmobile
Jordan White Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Quick update, here's the direction I'm going with the design: Completed wheels and tires: Painted engine: Color scheme is going to be dark green metallic exterior with white/black interior (same as actual car; floor, console, dash are satin black while seats and door panels are white)
DriftingRookie Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I am also going to be doing my rebuild of the 1964 Chevrolet Impala lopsided. And my 1968 Dodge Dart from the last cannonball run, the dart is currently getting stripped. The dart had an "accident" while I was moving things around so I tore it apart and going to 're build it. But enough of that lets get onto the impala.
DriftingRookie Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 sanding priming and more sanding on the impala, still waiting on parts for the Oldsmobile and Chevell
Zarana-X Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 This is why we can't have nice things... This is the mess I'm dealing with right now, after the masking tape came off. I've got the body soaking in Simple Green, but the blue is resistant. May have to get some dot3 from work and see how it likes those apples. I got the wheels and transaxle done. I'm gonna be using the stock wheels anyway, didn't have anything suitable that would fit in the stash. Engine is nearly done. I lost the oil filter and made one from sprue.
Jantrix Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 This is why we can't have nice things... This is the mess I'm dealing with right now, after the masking tape came off. I've got the body soaking in Simple Green, but the blue is resistant. Did you prime? Or was that sprayed over the bare plastic? If it is, 90% isopropyl alcohol is what I would recommend. If not sand down to primer coat and let the detergent attack the primer.
Zarana-X Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 The plastic was white, so I didn't prime. The blue is softening up, but not flaking/wiping off like the rest. Both white & blue are Krylon. I scratched some ridges in the blue, and it seems to be working.
ChevyCoupe41 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Nice lookin builds everyone! Finally started my '64 Impala. Starting point is this kit. As always I started this project by building engine. It's kind of mix of big block parts from my parts box. Also its going to get supercharger and fuel injection. Next I need to paint rest of engine parts and start assembling. Hope that I have update soon.
TimJ Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm making better progress on the Mustang than I did on the Mercedes I entered last year. I've got some work done on the engine. Meanwhile the body and underside have had a coat of primer. I should have another update soon.
JTalmage Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I've ordered a few parts off ebay for my '68 Roadkill Charger. Even a photoetched horizontal grille for it. Got some deals working with some members for the remaining parts. Except I'm still missing taillight buckets and taillight lenses.
DriftingRookie Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Got some parts for the Chevell but no door panels yet, still waiting for parts on the Oldsmobile and the Kampala is going to be slowing down until I feel better to get parts I need to finish it.
DriftingRookie Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 here is a pic of the chevell engine with new headers on it.
TFchronos Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Some really amazing work going on here, I like everything I see, keep it up you guys! I'll start my cars after I finish another cbp I'm in right now.
JTalmage Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Added a few dents, dings and holes to the charger tonight. Also cut the front bumper from the grille. Will probably have to wrap it in BMF now though.
Lunajammer Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I want the Torino to have a hood scoop, but all I've seen in my kits or parts box is clunky and not very graceful. So I'm forming my own with what's here. I like the flat hood and hope it's not too much, along with the fender, nose and tail treatments. I cut along the existing character line... ...bend it up at the front, then down at the back to level it out. Careful not to over stress the plastic. Glued in some fill plastic and some body putty and smoothed. This shows the wave transition from front to back along its natural lines.
