topher5150 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I am looking to a 53-56 like th one my dad had, but I remember seeing one kit that came with a trailer and a 1940 Ford. Does anyone know of this kit, how much they are going for??? THanks
1930fordpickup Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 They go for around 50-60 plus shipping on Ebay on a good day. It is the AMT Diamond In The Rough combo kit.
Force Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) There are lots of other '53-'56 F-100 kits available. AMT has a '53 (wich is the same truck as in the Diamond In The Rough Combo kit) done in a couple of versions, MPC/AMT has a couple of versions of a '53 with tilt front and sometimes tilt bed in 1:25th scale, Monogram has a couple of versions of a '55 in 1:24th scale and Revell has a couple of versions of a '56 in 1:25th scale...you can also find the Monogram 1:24th scale kit under Revell lable So you can most likely find one quite cheap if you look around. Chuck Most Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Of them all, the original AMT "Trophy Series" kit (the one in that Diamond in the Rough set you were asking about) is the best of them all. The only real gripe I have with it is that the inner door panels are molded onto the inside of the cab shell, but they look great with little more than clen and careful building techniques.
Eshaver Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Trailers are really easy to scratch build . Shoot, I can scout around and probably find an old I P M S newsletter showing how to do them that I did . As for a 53- F-100, uh A M T had the best one although it's a weird combination of accurate and not so accurate Deluxe cab features . See, I still sell parts N O S for these trucks and yes , I own a 53 Ford too................
topher5150 Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 $60 is a little rich for my blood, and I was using $25 from my Christmas money, found some more pics of the "Diamond in the Rough" but it was to stock. I went to the hobby store and found the Monogram Cruising Classic it came with the front suspension, and the engine that I needed. Is there any car hauler trailer kits out there that are reasonably priced? Thanks again
