jjsipes Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Would anybody have any other pictures of this particular car? My father would like to build one but would like to see a better picture it. http://www.dragracingimagery.com/photos/jc-126-llombardobuckshot2hsanova.jpg

1972coronet Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 From Doug Boyce's "Junior Stock: Drag Racing the Family Sedan" book (posted for discussion purposes only): That's one nice 'X' ! A vinyl top on a race car is unusual . What class is H/S ?
W-409 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 What class is H/S ? It's H/Stock. Stock Eliminator cars have many different "sub-classes". They are A, B, C, D/Stock and so on.... For example A/Stock is faster than H/Stock.

It's all got to do with the car's shipping weight vs. its NHRA-approved HP rating - most of the time it's the advertised HP, but NHRA would adjust if they thought a particular engine was under rated. You're basically running against your class' national ET record. Edited January 11, 2014 by Brett Barrow
1972coronet Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks for clarifying "H/Stock" for me , Niko and Brett . Not sure how I missed knowing that ( ) . If it'd been , say , "H/SA" or "SS/H" or "H/MP" , then I'd have been hip to it ; now I'm just embarrassed . Thanks again , guys
Racephoto1 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 My dad ran a 70 duster, first in G Stock, then SS/I . The horsepower rating was a bad deal if you were fast. NHRA would say you've been re-factored. You'd get put up from SS/I to SS/H. That would about kill you. The move up was a bad deal in the stock classes.
